Volleyball Upended By West Florida 3-0

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team hosted nationally-ranked West Florida on Friday evening, falling to the No. 20 Argonauts 3-0 (25-13, 25-14, 25-14).
 
NOTES
• AUM drops to 9-18 overall, 1-12 in Gulf South Conference action.
• West Florida improves to 24-6 on the season and 14-0 in league play.
• With the victory, UWF clinches at least a share of the GSC regular season crown.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Redshirt junior right-side hitter Kheala Roberts matched her career-high in blocks with five (two solo, three assisted) to go with a team-best seven terminations and six digs.
• Junior setter Carly Smart dished out 17 assists while matching a team-high with six digs.
• Freshman outside hitter Skylar Coppinger served the Warhawks' lone ace and recorded five digs.
• For West Florida, Jordyn Poppen had nine kills, Monique StCyr had 31 assists, Nadine Williams and Logan Keal provided 13 digs while Mackenzie Chrisman recorded two aces and two blocks.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• West Florida scored the opening three points of the first set and never allowed AUM to take a lead in the frame. UWF held the Warhawks to a .000 hitting percentage while hitting a match-best .371 in the set.
• AUM took its first lead of the contest in the second stanza, scoring the opening two points and five of the initial seven before a 7-0 rally for the Argonauts propelled them to a 9-5 advantage. The Warhawks responded with back-to-back points to cut the deficit to two before a 5-0 spree for the visitors made it 14-7.  
• In similar fashion to the previous set, AUM held an early lead before a West Florida run flipped the advantage. AUM created the early edge of a 4-0 run to make it 5-3, but an equal response by the visiting team put them ahead at 7-5 and held onto the lead for the remainder of the set. 
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 20 kills on a .045 hitting percentage versus 50 on a .360 clip for West Florida
• AUM won the battle at the net with seven blocks with UWF posting six.
• UWF held a 50-30 advantage in digs.
• West Florida served four aces, AUM recorded one.
 
UP NEXT
AUM hosts Valdosta State on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. Prior to first serve, head coach Melissa Robinson and the volleyball team will honor Roberts who will be playing in her final home match.
