YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. ------ After dropping the first game of the series to Young Harris on Saturday 12-1, the AUM baseball team's bats came alive to take the second half of the twin bill 12-10.
NOTES
• AUM moved to 3-7 on the season.
• The Mountain Lions moved to 3-6 overall.
GAME ONE STANDOUT PERFORMERS
•
Donovan Chandler and
Tanner Russell each recorded two hits.
• Sophomore
William Gibson pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
•
Trevor Flynn tallied the only run batted in for the Warhawks.
•
Brandon Davis and
Curtiss Johnson both recorded a hit in the contest.
• The Mountain Lions leadoff hitter Royce Woolfolk recorded four hits in five plate appearances.
• Young Harris' starting pitcher Michael Livingston went seven innings, allowing just one run and punching out eight.
GAME TWO STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Johnson recorded three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored in the contest, including a two-run home run.

Nathan Langley tallied two hits, three runs scored, two free passes and his third save of the season on the mound. He struck out two in a scoreless ninth inning
• Flynn had two hits on the day and three runs batted in.
• Russell and
Michael Tedford each had two hits in the game.
•
John-Mark Cosby had a hit and an RBI.
•
Hank Scott started the game and lasted six innings, surrendering two earned runs and striking out four.
• Zach Beggs and Nick Sexton each had a multi-hit game for Young Harris.
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME ONE
• Keeping up with the trend of the season, the Warhawks struck in the first inning when Flynn reached on fielder's choice, scoring Chandler who had singled earlier in the inning.
• In the bottom half of the first, the Mountain Lions evened the contest on a sacrifice fly by Odom.
• Young Harris accounted for four hits in the bottom of the second inning, taking a 4-1 lead heading to the third frame.
• The score remained at 4-1 until the bottom of the fifth when a couple of RBI singles by the Mountain Lions increased the deficit to five runs.
• Five hits and three free passes given up by the Warhawks in the bottom of the eighth inning extended the score to 12-1.
• Unable to put anything together in the final frame, Auburn Montgomery dropped the contest to Young Harris with a final score of 12-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME TWO
• In the top of the first, Johnson sent a 1-1 offering over the left field fence to give the Warhawks an early 2-0 lead.
• In the top of the third, Russell singled in Langley to improve the lead to 3-0. After Cosby was hit by a pitch, Flynn sent a 2-0 pitch through the middle, scoring Johnson and Russell, moving the score to 5-0 in favor of Auburn Montgomery.
• Not to be outdone, in the very next inning, AUM exploded for five more runs via RBI singles by Cosby, Johnson, Flynn and Davenport. Davenport then scored the tenth run on a passed ball.
• In the bottom of the fifth, the Mountain Lions scored three of their own to move the score to 10-3.
• Young Harris added two in the bottom of the sixth and three in the bottom of the seventh to close the gap to 10-8.
• Looking for some much-needed insurance, an RBI walk by Davenport followed by a throwing error on a batted ball from Davis moved the score to 12-8.
• A pair of RBI doubles by the Mountain Lions in the bottom of the eighth closed the deficit to two once again.
• After a scoreless top half of the ninth, Langley shut the door on Young Harris, striking out two in the saving effort. AUM took the second half of the double header, 12-10.
INSIDE THE GAME ONE BOX SCORE
• Each team committed one error in the contest.
• The Warhawks and the Mountain Lions each stranded seven base runners.
• AUM pitching recorded five strikeouts and YHC pitching punched out nine.
INSIDE THE GAME TWO BOX SCORE
• AUM committed two errors in the field and Young Harris had four costly defensive blunders.
• Auburn Montgomery left nine runners on base and the Mountain Lions stranded eight.
