YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. ------ The Auburn Montgomery softball team defeated Anderson University 3-2 Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Young Harris Tournament thanks to some early offensive production for the team's third consecutive win.

• The Warhawks improved to 7-4 on the year.
• The Trojans fell to 14-3 on the season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Freshman
Abby Krueger picked up her third double of the season with her second RBI in the game. Also, she added a walk and a run scored.
• Junior
Amy Persinger picked up her second double of the year and an RBI as well.
• Junior
Christy Hendrix finished the afternoon 1-for-2 with a walk and a double, while also scoring a run.
• Junior
Kalee Sparks extended her hit-streak to six consecutive games after a 1-for-3 performance.
• Senior
Rachel Ragland tallied her fourth win of the season allowing only one earned run on seven strikeouts.
• Mattie Hamilton led the way for Anderson finishing the game 2-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM picked up a key run in the top of the first after Walker picked up a two out walk, and advance on a Sparks single to center. Persinger launched a double down the left field line to plate Walker for an early 1-0 Warhawk lead.
• Anderson picked up a hit in the home half of the first, but Majeski was caught stealing by Angulo to throw up a zero on the scoreboard.
• Anderson picked up a hit in the bottom of the second, but neither team was able to score until the Warhawks threw up a crooked number in the top of the fourth.
• AUM scored two runs in the fourth on a one out double from Hendrix, who was brought home by a Krueger double down the left field line. Pinholster reached on a throwing error that allowed Krueger to score giving the Warhawks a 3-0 advantage.
• Anderson picked up one run on three hits in the home half of the fourth on a single to right center from Czentnar. Hagerty singled to third, but Czentnar was thrown out at third on the play to end the inning.
• Neither team picked up a hit in the fifth, but Anderson scored an additional run in the bottom of the sixth. A single from Czentnar scored Majeski, but Ragland stranded runners on second and third with a strikeout and a ground out to preserve the 3-2 lead in favor of the Warhawks headed to the seventh.
• Ragland retired the final three batters in the bottom of the seventh with the final two outs being recorded via strikeout to give AUM the 3-2 victory in the first game of the Young Harris Tournament.
UP NEXT
• The Warhawks will return to action on Saturday, February 25, where they will face host Young Harris College in a doubleheader with the first game being at 11 a.m..
