Baseballs Falls in Both Sets of Twin Bill

MONTGOMERY, Ala. ------ The AUM baseball team dropped two contests on Saturday to Spring Hill College and were swept overall on the weekend.  The final score of game one was 3-1 and the final score of game two was 15-1 in favor of the Badgers.
 
NOTES
• AUM fell to 5-9 on the season.
• The Badgers improved to 8-8.


GAME ONE STANDOUT PERFORMERS
Donovan Chandler and Nathan Langley each tallied a single.
Brandon Davis had an RBI double.
Houston Davenport scored a run.
• Michael Druhan had three hits including a two-run home run and a double.  Brandon Harigel and Conner Harrison each had a pair of hits for Spring Hill.
• The Badger starting pitcher Justin Whitsett carried a no-hitter 4 2/3 innings before a 2-out throwing error led to the first hit, and run for the Warhawks.
 
GAME TWO STANDOUT PERFORMERS
John-Mark Cosby hit his first home run of the season for the Warhawks lone run of the game.
Hank Scott and Conner Daniels each recorded their first career hits.
Josh Albritton tallied a double.
• Druhan hit three home runs in his first three at bats of the ball game for grand total of five runs batted in.  Fluellen, Romero and Harrison also hit home runs for the Badgers.
• Austin Barrios pitched six innings, giving up just four hits, one earned run and struck out three.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME ONE
• In the top of the third, Rodriguez dropped a single into right field, landing just fair.  After Fluellen flew out to right, Druhan hit a fly ball deep and over the left field fence to give Spring Hill a 2-0 lead.
• In the top of the fifth, the Badgers added on with a single by Harigel to extend the lead to 3-0.
• After being no-hit for the first 14 outs of the game, Davenport reached second when a throwing error by Rodriguez got past the first baseman Druhan.  Still looking for their first hit, AUM struck when the next hitter Davis crushed a ball to right field for an RBI double.  Warhawks trailed 3-1.
• In the bottom of the sixth, the Auburn Montgomery stranded the bases loaded with the tying run on second, and the go ahead run on first.
• Neither team scored the rest of the contest and Spring Hill clinched the series victory over the Warhawks with a final tally of 3-1 in game one of the double header.

 
HOW IT HAPPENED in GAME TWO
• In the top of the first inning, Rodriguez led off the game with a single and was followed by Fluellen getting drilled by the next pitch.  Druhan followed with his first home run of the ballgame to give the Badgers an early 3-0 lead.  Three batters later, Harrison hit a round tripper to extend the lead to 5-0.
• Druhan tallied his second home run in as many innings to make the score 6-0.
• After a scoreless third inning, Fluellen homered in the top of the fourth.  Not to be outdone, the next hitter, Druhan homered for the third time in the contest to move the score to 8-0.
• An RBI double by Fluellen, followed by a wild pitch made the overall tally 10-0.
• A Jacques sacrifice fly pushed the score to 11-0 in the sixth.
• In the bottom half of the sixth, Cosby hit a solo home run.
• Spring Hill capped off their scoring in the top of the seventh when Romero hit a pinch-hit, three-run home run.  The final score was 15-1.
 
 
INSIDE THE GAME ONE BOX SCORE
• Spring Hill committed the lone error in the game.
• The Warhawks stranded six runners on base, the Badgers stranded nine.
 
INSIDE THE GAME TWO BOX SCORE
• The Warhawks had the lone defensive miscue.
• Each team left nine runners on base.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 25 when they host the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
