MEMPHIS, Tenn. ------ The Auburn Montgomery softball team recorded a road doubleheader sweep of Christian Brothers Wednesday, taking the opener 3-1 and the nightcap 8-5.

NOTES
• The Warhawks improved to 18-15 on the season with the sweep.
• The Lady Bucs fell to 6-29.
• AUM's doubleheader at Blue Mountain on Thursday to complete the road trip was cancelled due to the likelihood of inclement weather.
GAME 1 STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• The Warhawks had seven hits from seven different players.
•
Jaycie Walker connected on her team-leading fifth home run of the season and also walked.
•
Kalee Sparks finished 1-for-3 with a double, run scored and a walk.
•
Taylor Tiffany tossed the first five innings of the contest in the circle for AUM, allowing two hits and one run, while walking four and striking out six to earn the win. She improved to 5-4 on the year.
•
Chanel Newcomer allowed one hit and walked two in a pair of scoreless innings of relief to collect her second save of the season.
• Abby Ferreira led the Lady Bucs at the plate, finishing 1-for-3 with a solo home run.
• Sierra Anderson (0-9) took the loss in the circle, scattering seven hits and allowing three runs in a complete-game effort.
GAME 1 HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM did all its damage in the fourth inning, scoring three times in the frame. Walker led off the inning with a solo home run to put the Warhawks up for good. Sparks followed with a double down the left field line and later came around to score on a sacrifice fly by
Rose Schmidt.
Christy Hendrix, who reached on an error, also scored in the inning on a throwing error.
• The Lady Bucs avoided the shutout when Ferreira led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run to centerfield.
GAME 2 STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Sparks finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, connecting on a home run and two doubles, while driving in three and scoring three times.
• Schmidt connected on a pair of long balls, her first career multi-homer game, and drove in three runs. She also scored twice.
• Walker added two more hits, including a double, scored twice and had one RBI.

Rachel Ragland finished 2-for-3 with a double. She also improved to 9-6 on the season with a complete game in the circle. Ragland scattered seven hits, allowing five runs (two earned) and struck out seven.
• Amber Johnson, Holly Oyhenart and Toni Rizzo each finished with two hits for Christian Brothers.
• Kylie Steagall finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Lady Bucs.
GAME 2 HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Warhawks used the long ball early and built a 3-0 lead in their first at bat. After Walker ripped a two-out double, Sparks launched a two-run homer to left-centerfield, giving AUM a 2-0 lead. Schmidt went back-to-back with a solo shot.
• Schmidt upped the Warhawks lead to 5-0 with a two-run bomb in the third inning, scoring Sparks.
• Christian Brothers was able to get on the board in the sixth inning, scoring twice. Johnson and Oyhenart led off the frame with singles, before each came around on a throwing error by Ragland.
• The Warhawks put the game out of reach with three runs in the top of the seventh inning, piecing together four hits to cap their scoring.
Parker Pinholster started the rally with a one-out single and later swiped her 32nd base of the season. Pinholster came in to score on a RBI single by Walker, who scored a batter later on a Sparks double.
Kaylin Finch plated the final AUM run with a two-out single.
• The Lady Bucs added three runs in the bottom of the seventh, two of which were unearned. Johnson and Steagall each collected RBIs.
UP NEXT
• With the Warhawks twin bill at Blue Mountain being cancelled, AUM will now return to action on Wednesday, April 5, when it hosts Delta State in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
