MORROW, Ga. ----- The No. 30 Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team earned an 8-1 win over Clayton State University to conclude the 2017 season on Saturday.
The win allowed the Warhawks to lock in a 17-4 record on the season. The loss dropped the Lakers to 3-15 overall.
AUM earned two points in the doubles portion of the match. At the No. 2 position,
Celine Lenertz and
Kelly Southwood captured an 8-2 win, while
Alejandra Gil and
Iris Verweij gained an 8-1 win at the No. 3 position.
Paula Diaz and
Anna Rudolfova fell to Kristiin Mets and Darina Drozdova in the No. 1 position, 8-6.
The Warhawks won five singles matches in straight sets, while Rudolfova was victorious by default. Verweij and Gil collected perfect 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Saturday's competition marked the final collegiate match for Southwood, Diaz, Verweij, Lenertz and Rudolfova, with all five ending their career with a singles victory.
