Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Following a pair of first inning singles, Sams flew out to right to plate the first run of the contest for North Georgia. Two batters later, Leroy doubled in the left-center gap to extend the lead to 3-0.
• Perez homered in the bottom of the second to make the score 4-0.
• Davis led off the top of the third with a single and was succeeded by a Tedford walk. After Chandler reached on a fielder's choice, he was picked off, leaving just Davis at third with two outs. Ahead in the count 2-1, Cosby laced a single up the middle to crack the score column for AUM.
• With two outs in the top of the fifth, Chandler walked to keep the inning alive. It would lead to good things as Cosby would send a 1-0 offering down the right field line to bring the Warhawks within two runs.Â
• Dempsey hit a one-out triple and was followed by an RBI-groundout to push the North Georgia lead to 5-2.
• In the bottom of the sixth, Leroy hit a solo home run to make it 6-2.
• With two runners in scoring position in the top of the seventh, AUM squandered a chance to chip away at the lead with two consecutive fly outs.
• The Warhawks were unable to push across any runs the rest of the contest and fell to the Nighthawks 6-2.
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Neither side had an error in the contest.
• AUM stranded 10 runners on the base paths. The Nighthawks left just three runners on base.
