Men’s Soccer Concludes Capital City Classic With 5-0 Loss To No. 20 Florida Tech

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Playing against their third nationally-ranked opponent in two weeks, the Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team fell 5-0 on Sunday evening to No. 20 Florida Tech in the final contest of the 2017 Capital City Classic.

NOTES
• AUM drops to 0-4 on the season.
• FIT improves to 3-1.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior midfielder William York paced the offense with two shots, one on target. Freshman defender Alexander Wagner and sophomore defender Caleb Fargarson each contributed one shot with Fargarson's landing on frame.
• Senior goalkeeper Stephen Ingram stopped four Florida Tech shots.
• Hugo Olsen led the Florida Tech offense with a goal and assist while Per Henrik Nag, Brandon Smalley, Stian Hogboe Olsen and Italo Ramos all chipped in one score. Josh Thomas dished out two assits for the visitors.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Florida Tech, a team that entered the weekend with the second-highest goal per game average in the country and the seventh-most goals scored, took the lead 11:13 into the match off a cross from Josh Thomas to Brandon Smalley inside the box.
• The Warhawks created an opportunity to knot up the score midway through the opening half as York got passed the FIT defense and took a shot, but the visiting keeper managed to make the save.
• AUM held the opposition scoreless for the remainder of the first half and into the second before a costly yellow card inside the box gave FIT a penalty kick opportunity which they capitalized on to take the 2-0 lead at the 51:33 mark of the match.
• Florida Tech followed up the PK with a three-goal rally in a 20-minute span to extend their lead to five.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with four shots and two on goal versus 21 shots with nine on target for the visitors.
• Florida Tech attempted 10 corner kicks in the contest, while AUM did not have an attempt.
