Men's Soccer Falls To Montevallo In Non-Conference Action 4-0

MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team took on Montevallo in a non-conference match on Saturday afternoon, falling to the host Falcons 4-0.
 
NOTES
• AUM drops to 0-5 on the season.
• Montevallo improves to 3-2.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior forward Simon Van Rheeden took a team-high three shots with two being on goal.
• Sophomore midfielder Alexis Arriaga and sophomore defender Caleb Fargarson both took two shots with both on target, while freshmen forwards Jesus Escalera and Bryant Louviere each took a pair of shots with one on frame.
• Senior goalkeeper Stephen Ingram stopped a season-high eight shots.
• Montevallo was paced by Vladik Margolin, Joshua Keller, Lukas Hauer and Cesare Marconi who all scored goals while Liam Moore dished out two assists with Arad Lev Ari having one.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM put pressure on Montevallo from the start, landing a shot that forced the Falcons' keeper to make a save in the opening minute.
• Montevallo got on the scoreboard 19:58 into the match, capitalizing on a penalty kick opportunity for Hauer with a goal from Marconi 10 minutes later to hold a 2-0 advantage at halftime.
• The host continued its offensive approach in the second half, taking three quality shots before Margolin placed the ball past Ingram at the 81:34 mark to take a 3-0 lead. Montevallo added one more tally to their lead, as Keller scored a goal with 1:36 left in the match.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• AUM finished the match with 14 shots, nine on goal, versus 19 shots with 12 on target for Montevallo.
• Montevallo held a slim 9-8 advantage in saves to post their third clean sheet of the season.
• AUM had 14 fouls and four yellow cards while the Falcons had 13 fouls with a pair of cautions.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks return to the pitch on Friday, Sept. 22, when they venture to Livingston, Ala., for a non-conference tilt against the University of West Alabama starting at 7 p.m. AUM sees Montevallo again on Sunday, Sept. 24 in a home match slated for 3:30 p.m.
