MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will open up the 2017 Gulf South Conference season this weekend, hosting GSC foes North Alabama and West Georgia on Friday and Sunday, respectively, at the AUM Soccer Complex.

About the Warhawks
AUM (1-1, 0-0 GSC) will play its first contest at home this season and its first since Sept. 3, after having a match with West Florida postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Irma. The Warhawks opened the season with a 4-2 victory over Eckerd on Aug. 31, before dropping a 2-0 decision to Young Harris on Sept. 3.
Sophomore
Ruby Mendez leads the team in scoring with two goals and an assist on the young season, with teammates
Fabiana Alborghetti and Melissa Hernandez leading the team in shots with nine apiece.
Felicia Wester has started both games in goal for the Warhawks, posting nine saves this year.
About the Lions
North Alabama (3-1, 2-0 GSC) will look to earn its fourth consecutive victory after dropping its season opener to Nova Southeastern on Sept. 1. The Lions have defeated Barry, Christian Brothers and Union in succession heading into the contest with the Warhawks, outscoring opponents 9-4 in the process.
Shelby Wall leads the Lions and the GSC in goals with four, while teammates Beatriz Fernandes and Kristen Sinden are tied for second in the conference in assists with three apiece.
About the Wolves
West Georgia (1-2, 1-1 GSC) will play Montevallo in a GSC match on Friday before travelling to Montgomery on Sunday afternoon. The Wolves opened the season with a 3-2 double overtime setback to North Georgia at home on Sept. 6, before picking up their first win of the season against Union two days later.
Four different Wolves have posted a goal for UWG, while Jackie Donaldson has started all three games at goalkeeper.
