AUM Falls To Erskine In Double Overtime, 2-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – In the 113th minute of a double overtime thriller, Erskine College's Emily Bray put a header from a corner kick in the back of the Warhawk net, giving the Flying Fleet a 2-1 victory over Auburn Montgomery on Wednesday afternoon at the AUM Soccer Complex.
 
NOTES
• AUM drops to 1-4 overall.
• The Warhawks have now dropped four contests in a row since opening the season with a 4-2 win over Eckerd.
• Senior Morgan Glenn got her first start in goal this season for AUM.
• For only the second time this season the Warhawks recorded more corner kicks than their opponent (8-5).
• Erskine improves to 2-4 on the season.
• The goal by Bray was her first of the season.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Junior defender Rachel Hartley scored her first career goal for AUM.
• Fellow defender Fabiana Alborghetti blocked four shots on defense, including one that got passed the goalkeeper.
• The Flying Fleet's Kayla Kieffer also scored her first goal of the season
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
• Hartley broke the scoreless tie in the contest with the her first career goal, taking an Astrid Nilsson corner kick and heading past an Erskine defender from five yards out in the 27th minute.
• Kieffer got the equalizer in the 78th minute, deflecting a pass from Katie Cauble off of a Warhawk defender into the side netting.
• Bray earned the sudden victory for the Flying Fleet in the 113th minute, putting a header off of a corner kick past the AUM goalkeeper. Devyn Cabral picked up the assist off the corner.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE 
• AUM finished the match with 17 shots (four on goal), the second most shots taken this season (22 vs. Eckerd).
• Glenn recorded four saves in her first start of the season.
• No cautions were issued to either team.
• Erskine's Abbigail Schmidt was also making her first start of the season in goal, improving to 1-0 on the season with three saves.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will travel to Mobile, Ala., to take on Gulf South Conference foe Spring Hill College on Friday at 1 p.m., on the campus of the Badgers.
