Women’s Soccer Hosts UWA And UAH This Weekend

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team will welcome a pair of Gulf South Conference foes this weekend to the AUM Soccer Complex, hosting West Alabama on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m., before taking on Alabama in Huntsville on Sunday at 1 p.m.

About the Warhawks
AUM comes into the contest against West Alabama with an overall record of 2-4, with a 1-2 mark in the Gulf South. The Warhawks are coming off of a 3-1 victory over Spring Hill last Friday, snapping a four-match losing skid in the process.
 
Sophomore Ruby Mendez leads the team in points, having scored two goals and recorded three assists on the season. Fellow sophomore Allison Singleterry and freshman Stine Svaerke have also notched two goals for the Warhawks, with freshman Melissa Fernandez tallying two assists on the year.
 
The Warhawks have outshot opponents 96-88 this season, but opponents have outscored AUM 14-10. AUM is averaging 16.0 shots per game, to just 14.7 for opponents.
 
AUM has yet to win a match at home this season, falling to Erskine 2-1 in double overtime during their last attempt.
 
About the Tigers
West Alabama is currently 3-5 on the season, with a 2-4 mark in league play. The Tigers are coming off of a 2-1 setback against North Alabama this past Sunday at home.
 
Sophomore TeMia Pride and freshman Anele Komani lead the team in points, with each posting three goals and an assist on the year. Junior Marie Dreezen has added two goals to the UWA total, as the three Tigers have accounted for eight of their team's 12 goals this season.
 
UWA and AUM have shared two common opponents this season, West Georgia and North Alabama. AUM fell to UWG, 3-0, and UNA, 4-2, while the Tigers defeated the Wolvers, 2-1, and fell to the Lions, 2-1.
 
About the Chargers
 
UAH is currently 3-5 overall this year, and is 2-4 in Gulf South matches. The Chargers will play GSC foe Montevallo on Friday before traveling to Montgomery for Sunday's match.
 
Senior Riley Ridgeway leads the team in points, scoring two goals and recording four assists in 2017. Fellow senior Sydney Pfankuch has also scored a pair of goals while tallying two assists for UAH.
 
As a team the Chargers have tallied 10 goals on the year, while opponents have tallied 14 this season. UAH has also been outshot 147-68 by opponents.

The Warhawks will travel to Christian Brothers on Friday, Oct. 6, for a doubleheader with the men's squads beginning at 5 p.m.
