Men’s Basketball Set To Host Alabama Huntsville On Saturday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Coming off of its second 100-point scoring effort this season the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team will host Gulf South Conference foe Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Gymnasium in the first home game of 2018 for the Warhawks.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks are 6-8 on the season with a 2-5 mark in conference play after falling to GSC rival West Georgia on Tuesday evening, 103-100. The game marked the second time this season that AUM has reached the century mark, but was the first to have come in a loss. It was also the only the third time in program history that AUM has suffered a loss when scoring 100 or more points.
 
Senior guard Reagan Eubanks led the way for the Warhawks with 24 points while backcourt teammate Desmond DeRamus added 20 to the AUM total. Senior Center Jarett Croff finished one rebound away from a double-double scoring 18 and grabbing nine rebounds.
 
Four Warhawks are averaging double figures in points per game, with DeRamus leading the way with 15.7 ppg. Eubanks is averaging 15.3 ppg, Lafayette James-Core is at 12.8 ppg and Darrion Taylor is at 11.6 ppg. Senior forward Kameron Hornbuckle leads the team in boards with 68 (5.2 rpg).
 
AUM is 19-18 lifetime against the Chargers with this being the first meeting between the two programs since the 2011-12 season, a 61-46 victory for the Chargers. Prior to that contest the two teams hadn't faced each other since Dec. 19, 1992, a 103-97 win for AUM.
 
About the Chargers
UAH is 11-5 on the year with a 4-4 mark in the GSC. The Chargers are coming off of a 109-90 victory over conference foe Union this past Tuesday. The 109 points were the most by the Chargers this season.
 
Senior guard Justin Ward became the 24th player in UAH history to reach 1,000 career points with his 30-point performance against Union. Ward leads the team in scoring averaging 18.7 points per game, with teammates Elliot Chayse and Kip Owens averaging 13.3 and 11.8 ppg, respectively.
 
Owens and Ward lead the team in rebounds, with each recording 5.3 per game. However, Owens leads the team in total rebounds with 84 while also leading the team in assists with 60.  
 
UAH shoots .494 as a team with a .406 mark in 3-point attempts. The Chargers are on a two-game win streak, but are 2-2 over their last four games.

The Warhawks will play their second home game in a row on Monday when they welcome the University of North Alabama to the AUM Gymnasium for a GSC matchup. Opening tip is set for 8 p.m. between the Warhawks and the Lions.
