Men’s Basketball To Host West Alabama For Homecoming

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team will host Gulf South Conference foe West Alabama on Saturday afternoon in league play, as the Warhawks will celebrate homecoming against the Tigers beginning at 4 p.m.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks are coming off of a 72-68 setback against the University of Montevallo on Thursday evening, as senior forward Lafayette James-Core tallied a game-high 27 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal in the defeat.
 
Junior guard and Jefferson Davis alum Desmond DeRamus now sits at 96 points for his career, and is on pace to hit 1,000 in early February. He is looking to become the first Warhawk to reach 1,000 points for his career since Nathan Thomas (1,090) did it in 2010.
 
DeRamus leads the team in scoring with 277 points on the season. He's averaging 15.4 points per game with a team-high 81 assists and 35 steals. Senior Jarett Croff leads the team in rebounds with 94, averaging 5.5 boards per game while also leading the team in blocks with 15.
 
AUM is 3-1 this season against ranked opponents. After the game against UWA the Warhawks will be on the road for three contests in a row. AUM will play its final non-conference game on Tuesday, Jan. 30 against Tuskegee on the campus of the Golden Tigers.
 
The Warhawks are 4-7 lifetime against UWA, having lost six in a row to the Tigers. AUM's last victory against UWA came on Jan. 16, 2012, a 65-64 win for the Warhawks. This will be the second meeting this season between the two schools, with UWA earning a 91-77 victory at the Embry-Riddle Classic on Nov. 25.
 
About the Tigers
UWA is currently third in the GSC standings, with an overall record of 14-6 and a league record of 8-4. The Tigers had their four-game win streak snapped against West Georgia on Thursday evening, falling 81-76 to the Wolves on the road.
 
Charles Eaton led all scorers with 33 points and added five rebounds and two assists. Josh Fleming scored 16 and Trey Petty scored 14 in his third start of the season.Gavin Robinson and Domonique Alexander both finished with double digit rebounds with 11 and 10, respectively.
 
Eaton leads the GSC in scoring this season, averaging 28.0 points per game, having tallied 559 points this season.
 
Up Next
The Warhawks play its final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday, Jan. 30, when they play region-rival Tuskegee University. Game time is set for 8 p.m. on the campus of the Golden Tigers.
