Volleyball Heads To Tennessee For A Pair Of League Matches

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After playing their last three matches in the friendly confines of the AUM Gymnasium the Auburn Montgomery volleyball team will begin a five-match road swing, playing at Gulf South Conference foes Christian Brothers and Union University this upcoming weekend.

About the Warhawks
AUM is currently 9-12 on the season with an 0-9 mark in the GSC. The Warhawks are currently on a five-match losing skid and are 2-5 in road contests.
 
The Warhawks are averaging 10.6 kills, 9.9 assists and 13.8 blocks per set this season. Opponents are hitting for a .174 attack percentage against AUM, which has amassed a total of 116.0 blocks this season. The Warhawks are doing most of their damage in the second and third sets of matches this season, outscoring opponents predominately in those two frames.
 
Freshman outside hitter Nyah Whittlesey eclipsed the century mark in kills in the Orange & Black's last match where the Columbus, Ga., native tallied a career-high 10 kills against Emmanuel College. For the year she now has 102 kills.
 
Senior middle blocker Brianna Garvin continues to lead the team in attack percentage (.293) and blocks (45), and is second on the team in kills with 139. Fellow senior Carly Smart leads the team in assists with 444 from her setter position, and is second in digs with 158.
 
The Warhawks are 0-2 lifetime against both CBU and Union.
 
About the Buccaneers
CBU is 9-13 on the year with a 2-7 mark in league play. The Bucs are also 5-4 at home and are 1-4 in their last five matches.
 
Three players have recorded over 200 kills for CBU with junior outside hitter Emma Lenoir leading the way with 330. Setter Alexa Henderson has tallied 465 assists and has directed the Bucs' offense to a .216 attack percentage as a team. Freshman middle blocker Miaya Smith leads the team in blocking with 58 stuffs on the season.
 
About the Bulldogs
Union is 4-18 overall and 1-8 in the GSC on the year. The Bulldogs are also 3-6 in home matches and have dropped five contests in a row. They will host #13 West Florida on Friday evening before welcoming the Warhawks to campus on Saturday.
 
Four Bulldogs have 100 or more kills this season, with freshman outside hitter Meghan Delaney leading the way with 190 on the year. Delaney also leads the team in service aces with 19. Senior setter Rebecca Sexton leads the team in assists with 538 while sophomore middle blocker Kristen Bukowsky tops the Bulldogs in blocks with 74.
 
Up Next
The Warhawks will take part in the Gulf South Conference and Sunshine State Conference South Region Crossover on Oct. 19-20 in Orlando, Fla. in their next contest. AUM will play a pair of matches at the event with their opponents having been yet to be determined.
