MEMPHIS, Tenn. – In the first contest of a five-match road swing the Auburn Montgomery volleyball team fell to Christian Brothers on Friday evening, 3-0, in Gulf South Conference action on the campus of the Buccaneers.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 9-13 on the season with a 0-10 mark in the GSC.
• CBU improves to 10-13 and 3-7 in league play.
• The Buccaneers won the match 25-20, 25-8, 25-13.
• The Warhawks are now 0-3 lifetime against the Bucs.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior middle blocker
Brianna Garvin tallied a team-high seven kills while notching three blocks (one solo) in the match.
• CBU's Emma Lenoir recorded a match-high 12 kills while hitting for a .391 attack percentage. Lenoir also tallied five service aces.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set saw the Warhawks jump out to a 7-4 advantage before the home-standing Bucs a 7-1 run to take an 11-8 advantage before a kill by
Carly Smart broke serve. AUM responded with three straight points to tie the frame at 11-11 before the Bucs responded with a 3-0 run of their own. The Orange & Black would battle back to take a 16-15 lead on a service ace by
Skylar Coppinger, but a 6-1 run by CBU put AUM down 21-17. AUM then scored three straight points to cut the lead to 21-20, but the Bucs tallied four in a row in response to take the first set 25-21.
• The second set saw the Bucs run out to a 20-5 advantage before AUM would take a timeout to try to staunch the CBU attack. The Warhawks tallied three straight points capped off by a kill by Coppinger, but the Bucs would finish off the set on a 5-0 run to win the set 25-8.
• In the third set the Bucs kept up their strong play, taking a 14-4 advantage before a kill by
Nyah Whittlesey gave AUM the serve. An 8-2 run by the Bucs put the Orange & Black down 22-7, forcing a timeout. AUM would outscore CBU the rest of the way 5-3, but the early deficit was too much to overcome as the Warhawks fell 25-13 in the third set.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• AUM hit for a .000 attack percentage as a team while CBU recorded a mark of .350.
• The Bucs went for 12 blocks while holding AUM to just four.
• CBU recorded eight service aces while the Warhawks tallied three.

The Warhawks will continue their road tilt when they play GSC opponent Union University tomorrow at 2 p.m. on the campus of the Bulldogs.
