Volleyball Travels To West Georgia For GSC Match

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team will play Gulf South Conference opponent West Georgia on Tuesday evening on the campus of the Wolves beginning at 6 p.m. as the Warhawks look to avenge a 3-0 setback to UWG earlier this season.

About the Warhawks
AUM is 10-19 on the season with a 1-13 mark in league play. The Warhawks snapped an 11-match losing skid on Friday evening with a 3-0 victory over Mississippi College. The victory was also the Orange & Black's first conference win of the season and only their second overall.
 
Senior middle blocker Brianna Garvin leads the team in kills this season with 215, hitting for a .287 attack percentage which also leads the Warhawks. She is also tied for fifth in the Gulf South Conference in blocks per set (1.00) and is seventh in total blocks with 84. Garvin tied her own school record for blocks in a match twice last week, posting eight against both MC and Valdosta State.
 
Five players have now reached triple digits in kills for AUM, with senior setter Carly Smart (112) reaching the mark this past weekend. Smart leads the team in assists with 657 this season as well as digs with 238.
 
The victory over MC on Friday gave the Warhawks their 10th victory of the season, which is the most in program history.
 
About the Wolves
UWG is 11-12 on the year with a 5-8 mark in the GSC. The Wolves have lost four in a row overall with their last victory coming against Nova Southeastern as a part of the South Region Crossover. The last GSC victory for UWG came against Union University on Oct. 5, a 3-0 victory.
 
McKenna Wharton leads the team in kills with 235 and is one of three players to have reached the century mark for UWG. Anjelina Webb (143) and Kaylyn Buchanan (106) are second and third on the team in kills, respectively, with Niah Bruce (96) and Emilee Harris (88) looking to hit triple digits soon.
 
Setter Madi Fleming has amassed 693 assists in directing the UWG offense and is third on the third on the team in digs with 163. Anna Metzler leads the team in digs with 242.

The Warhawks will close out the 2018 season on Saturday when they host #19 West Florida in a match set to begin at 2 p.m. in the AUM Gymnasium.
