HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set saw the two teams battle to a 13-13 tie when a service ace by
Carly Smart gave AUM the lead. The ace would propel the Warhawks on a 6-1 rally to go up 19-14 before UWG mounted a comeback. With the set tied at 21-21 the Orange & Black would go on a 4-1 rally to win the frame on a kill by Garvin.
• UWG would take a 6-2 lead in the second set before AUM would tie the frame at 10 points apiece. A 9-5 run by the Wolves gave the home team a 19-15 advantage. The Warhawks responded with an 8-4 rally to tie the set at 23-23. UWG would get the set point one play later but a service error by the Wolves would tie the set once again. A kill by
Jaylyn Felder and then another by
Alexandria Henry would give AUM the 26-24 come-from-behind victory.
• The two teams traded points back and forth throughout the early goings of the third set when AUM jumped ahead 12-10 on a kill by Garvin. A 6-0 run by the Wolves put them up 16-12 before eventually going up 19-14. Kills by Felder and Smart cut the deficit to two points before the two teams traded serves once again. Down 23-20 the Orange & Black rallied for four straight points to get to match points at 24-23. UWG would fight off match point and tie frame at 24-24. It was then that Garvin got her 16th and 17th kills of the match to secure the 26-24 victory for the Warhawks.
