About the Warhawks
AUM (0-2) heads into their first home matchup of their 2018-19 campaign coming off a 62-50 loss to Tuskegee, and a 72-62 loss to Spring Hill in their opening weekend of action last weekend in the GSC/SIAC Conference Challenge held in Montevallo, Ala.
Freshman guard
Jordan Brewster scored double-digit points in both games for AUM last weekend, with 14 points in her Warhawk debut against Tuskegee, and 18 points against Spring Hill. The Lenoir City, Tenn. native is currently averaging a team-best 16 points per contest, while shooting 37 percent from the three-point line (10-27).
Senior forward
Evelina Avleeva paces AUM in the rebounding department, currently averaging 10.5 per game to go along with 7.5 points per game and a team-high eight steals. Avleeva pulled down 13 boards in AUM's season-opener against Tuskegee.
Newcomer
Victoria Morales is currently averaging nine points and six rebounds per game, to go along with a team-best three assists per contest.
Saturday's contest will serve as the third meeting between AUM and Young Harris in women's hoops. The Mountain Lions hold a 2-0 advantage over the Warhawks, including a 59-43 win in their most recent meeing on Nov. 18, 2017.
Complimentary t-shirts will be given out to the first 250 students in attendance on Saturday, in promotion with International Student's Week at AUM.
About the Mountain Lions
Young Harris (0-3) will also be looking or their first victory of the season on Saturday. The Mountain Lions dropped a 71-48 decision to Anderson College on Nov. 14 in their most recent work.
The Mountain Lions amassed a record of 9-20 in 2017-18, including a mark of 6-16 in Peach Belt Conference play.
The Mountain Lions opened up their 2018-19 slate with a pair of losses to Lees McCrae (59-54) on Nov. 9, and Emmanuel College (54-41) on Nov. 10 in the Peach Belt/Conference Carolinas Challenge held at the YHC Basketball Arena.
Young Harris is averaging 47.7 points per game in 2018, while allowing opponents to score 61.3. Pamela Diokpara leads the way for the Mountain Lions on offense, averaging 12 points and 11.7 rebounds per game, while having notched a double-double in two of YHC's three games so far.
