JACKSON, Miss. – Senior runner
Benisse Inamahoro ran the fourth fastest time in the 5k in school history and posted a 14th place finish at the 2018 Gulf South Conference Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning as she paced the Auburn Montgomery women's cross country team to a seventh place finish at the event hosted by Mississippi College.
NOTES
• AUM ran an average time of 20:07.72 and a total time of 1:40:38.60 to finish seventh at the event.
• Due to AUM's provisional status its team finish is not apart of the official results.
• AUM was picked to finish 11th in the GSC Preseason Poll.
• The Warhawks finished the race with 176 points, finishing just nine points away from fifth place MC (167).
• Inamahoro's time of 18:49.11 is now fourth all time at AUM. She now has the third, fourth, 10th and 11th fastest times in the 5k in program history.
• Due to her top 20 finish Inamahoro was unofficially recognized at the awards ceremony for earning second team all conference honors.
• #23 Lee University won the women's race.
• There were five regionally ranked teams at the meet.
• The Warhawks have now posted top 10 finishes in five of six races this season, and top 20 marks in every meet.
• There were 12 teams and 97 runners at the event.
INDIVIDUAL FINISHES

Benisse Inamahoro ran a time of 18:49.11 to finish 14th.

Tanishya Jones ran a time of 19:55.77 to finish 31st.
•
Isabella Gyori ran a time of 20:14.48 to finish 39th.
•
Gladys Rutto ran a time of 20:18.71 to finish 40th.
•
Victoria McCurry ran a time of 21:19.86 to finish 61st.
•
Danielle Riggs ran a time of 21:53.83 to finish 69th.
•
Savannah Karl ran a time of 23:20.55 to finish 85th.
•
Olivia Guarino ran a time of 23:36.43 to finish 87th.
QUOTING THE COACH
"It's unofficially the best conference finish for the women's squad," said head coach
Ryan Thompson. "The women finished nine points out of fifth place which is tremendous considering we were picked 11th in the preseason poll."
"It was a great day for Benisse and I personally couldn't be happier for her," added Thompson. "There will be big expectations for both programs next Fall.
