MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Playing in their final match of the 2018 season the Auburn Montgomery volleyball team fell to Gulf South Conference foe #19 West Florida 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the AUM Gymnasium, as the Argonauts sweep the season series with the Warhawks.
 
NOTES
• AUM falls to 11-20 overall and 2-14 in league play.
• UWF improves to 23-7 and 15-1 in the GSC
• The Argonauts won the match 25-18, 25-18, 25-18.
• Senior middle blocker Brianna Garvin finishes her career with a school record 469 kills and 173 blocks.
• Senior setter Carly Smart finishes her career with an AUM record of 1,485 assists and 48 service aces.
• Senior defensive specialist Haley Toler closes out her time with the Orange & Black with a school record of 570 digs.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Garvin tallied a team high 10 kills for AUM, adding three blocks as well.
• Toler recorded a match-high 17 digs in the contest.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first set the two teams battle to a 6-5 score when UWF would go on a 7-2 run. In the ensuing rallies AUM would pull to within 16-10 on a kill by Smart. Down 23-14 the Warhawks would rally for four straight points capped off on a kill by Garvin that forced a timeout but the Argos. However, UWF would get the final two points they needed out of the timeout to take the first set 25-18.
• The second set saw the Warhawks jump out to a 9-6 lead before a Warhawk service error would give the Argos a side out. With AUM leading 10-9 the Argos would go on a five-point rally to take a 14-10 lead. The two teams traded side outs with AUM inching closer to UWF, eventually pulling to within 18-16 on a kill by smart. Once again UWF would show its offensive prowess by finishing the set on a 7-2 run to once again win by the final of 25-18.
• AUM jumped out to a 6-4 led in the third set before the Argos would go on a 10-2 rally to take a 14-8 lead over the Orange & Black. The Warhawks rallied for three straight in response and cut the deficit to 14-11, but UWF responded with a 5-1 run to go up 19-12. AUM would outscore the Argos the rest of the way, but the deficit was too much to overcome as UWF would take the third set 25-18.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• The match featured 13 tie scores and 6 lead changes.
• UWF tallied 9.0 blocks while AUM had 4.0.
• The Argos hit for a .333 attack percentage while AUM was held to a mark of .133.
