Women’s Basketball Faces Road Test at Southern Wesleyan Saturday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team will travel to Central, S.C. on Saturday, Dec. 8 to take on the Warriors of Southern Wesleyan University in nonconference action.

About the Warhawks
AUM (0-7, 0-2 GSC) returns to action on Saturday, Dec. 8 following a week-long hiatus from competition.
 
 The Warhawks fell at home 64-49 to the Chargers of Alabama Huntsville on Saturday, Dec. 1 their last time out. Makaylla Bullard notched a season-high 13 points, while Victoria Morales pulled in a season-high 10 rebounds in the setback. 
 
Jordan Brewster leads the way offensively for AUM, averaging 13.4 points per game. The freshman guard unofficially leads the Gulf South Conference with 25 three-pointers made and an average of 3.6 treys per game, while having also scored in double figures in six of her seven contests played for the Warhawks this year.
 
Three Warhawks have carried the load for AUM in the rebounding department this season, with Evelina Avleeva's 7.7 boards per game serving as the team high and ranking among the top 10 performers in the GSC. Victoria Morales has upped her season average to 7.1 per game, while Aaliyah Milord (6.1) has pulled down a team-best 29 rebounds over the last three games for the orange and black. 
 
The Warhawks unofficially lead the conference in blocked shots, with 38 total and a pace of 5.3 per contest that also paces the GSC. Bailee Wolf ranks tied for second in the Gulf South with eight blocks and third with a 1.1 blocks per game pace, while Avleeva, Morales and Milord all rank among the top 10 in the GSC with seven blocks and an average of one per contest. 
 
Saturday's matchup with the Warriors will mark for the 31st meeting between the two teams, and will serve as their first matchup since the 2013-14 season. AUM holds a commanding 27-3 lead over Southern Wesleyan in their series history, highlighted by an 18-game win streak by the Warhawks from 1988-2005 to begin the series.  
 
About the Warriors
Southern Wesleyan (4-4, 0-2 CC) heads into their matchup with AUM on Saturday having lost their first two Conference Carolina contests at North Greenville 66-55 on Nov. 28, and at Belmont Abbey 99-53 on Dec. 1 in their most recent work.
 
The Warriors are currently averaging 68 points per game in 2018, while allowing opponents to score 70.6, for a scoring margin of -2.6 contest.
 
 Southern Wesleyan is shooting 42 percent from the field and 32 percent from the three-point line, while holding their opponents to 39 percent from the floor and 27 percent from beyond the arc.
 
Three Warriors are currently averaging in double-figures in scoring, with Iva Krstevska's 15.4 points per game serving as the team high. Emily Walters and Tiana Sherman both are averaging 11.7 points per game heading into Saturday.
 
Lisana Burnett's seven rebounds per game leads a Warrior's squad averaging 36.6 boards per game on the year.
