MONTGOMERY, Ala. – With the score tied at 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning and a runner on second base, freshman third baseman
Hannah Dailey delivered a double to left-centerfield to plate the game-winning run, as Auburn Montgomery defeated Alabama Huntsville 5-4 on Friday evening in Gulf South Conference softball action.
NOTES
• AUM improves to 6-2 on the season and 3-1 in GSC play.
• UAH drops to 9-5 with a 1-3 mark in league action.
• The game was the first home game of the season for AUM, and the first Gulf South Conference home game in program history.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Dailey was 1-for-2 at the plate with two runs batted in, one run scored and three walks.
• Second baseman
Gracie Harris was 1-for-4 on the day with an RBI and a run scored.
• Sophomore pitcher
Chanel Newcomer entered the game in relief and pitched 4.1 perfect innings, striking out six Chargers to improve to 3-2 on the season.
• The Chargers' shortstop Jada Hayes was 1-3 at the plate with two RBI.
• UAH pitcher Layton Murphy fell to 7-3 on the season, allowing five runs (two earned) on five hits with four strikeouts and seven walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM got on the board first, with Dailey scoring on a wild pitch in the bottom of the first.
• Hayes tied the game in the second, plating a runner on a ground out to second to even the game at 1-1.
• The Chargers scored three runs in the top of the fourth, highlighted by back-to-back doubles to go up 4-1.
• The Warhawks would scratch off a run in the bottom of the fourth, cutting the lead to 4-2 on a Harris single to second.
• AUM loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, scoring one run on a Dailey fielder's choice and another on a
Kalee Sparks fielder's choice to tie the game at 4-4.
• With one out and Harris just having stolen second base, Dailey delivered a line drive to left-center to plate Harris from second to give the Warhawks the 5-4 walkoff victory.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• The Chargers scored four runs on five hits while committing two errors.
• AUM scored five runs on five hits with no errors.
• The Warhawks stole five bases while UAH stole one.

The Warhawks will play the Chargers in a doubleheader tomorrow at the AUM Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
