MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The No. 20 Argonauts of West Florida avenged a 73-70 setback to Auburn Montgomery earlier this season on Thursday evening, defeating the Warhawks, 63-46, at the AUM Gymnasium in Gulf South Conference men's basketball action.
NOTES
• AUM drops to 9-15 on the season, with a 5-11 mark in GSC play.
• UWF improves to 21-3 and 13-3 in league action.
• With the victory the Argonauts set the record for most wins a season in program history.
• The 46 points for the Warhawks are a season-low.
• AUM is now 5-6 lifetime against UWF, and is 3-2 against nationally ranked opponents this season.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior guard
Reagan Eubanks scored 14 to go along with two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
• Junior guard
Desmond DeRamus tallied nine points, six rebounds, five steals and two assists.
• UWF's Daryl Tucker recorded a double-double, posting 18 points and 12 rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Eubanks score eight of the first 10 points for AUM, pacing the Warhawks to a 10-6 lead over the first five minutes of the contest.
• UWF's Tucker would eventually tie the game with a dunk at 10 points apiece at the 11:30 mark in the first before giving the Argos the lead a minute later with a jumper in the paint.
• The two teams would be tied at 16-16 with 7:33 to go in the half when the Argonauts doubled up AUM over the rest of the frame, going on a 15-8 run to take a 31-24 lead into the break.
• The Argonauts opened the second half on an 11-0 run to go up 42-24 with 14:49 to play, capped off by a Tucker putback dunk.
• AUM could not get its offense on track, scoring only eight points over the next 10 minutes as UWF went up 56-32 with 5:04 on the clock.
• The Warhawks would outscore UWF 14-7 over the final five minutes, but the Argos would pull out the victory, 63-46.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• UWF outrebounded AUM 49-35.
• The Argos outscored AUM 38-10 in the paint.
• West Florida scored 24 points off turnovers to just six for the Warhawks.
