MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery softball team will make its first Gulf South Conference road trip this weekend, travelling to Cleveland, Miss., to take on league opponent Delta State in a three-game series beginning Saturday at University Field.

About the Warhawks
AUM is 6-4 on the season with a 3-3 mark in GSC play. The Warhawks are coming off a 2-1 series loss to Alabama Huntsville this past weekend, winning the series opener on Friday evening 5-4 before falling twice on Saturday 4-1 and 7-2 in a doubleheader.
This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
Freshman infielder
Hannah Dailey leads the team offensively, hitting .440 on the season with a team-high 11 hits and eight runs batted in. Dailey has also scored 13 runs this season and has a slugging percentage of .520. Senior outfielder
Kalee Sparks has tallied 10 hits and 13 total bases, and leads the team in doubles with three.
Sophomore pitcher
Chanel Newcomer leads the team in strikeouts with 21 and innings pitched with 28.0. Newcomer is 3-3 on the season with a save over eight appearances, recording an earned run average of 3.25.
About the Lady Statesmen
DSU is 9-9 on the season with a record of 3-3 league action. The Lady Statesmen are coming off of a 2-1 series loss to GSC foe Valdosta State this past weekend, falling 6-5 in eight innings and 3-0 before salvaging the series with a 2-0 victory in game three.
This weekend's games will be the first home games of the season for the Lady Statesmen, who are 3-2 in road games and 6-7 at neutral sites.
Junior infielder Kelly Byrd leads the team and is tied for third in the league in RBI with 17 on the season. Byrd is also tied for second in the GSC in home runs with four dingers on the season. Senior catcher Kaitlyn Eaves leads the team in batting average with a mark of .345.
Senior pitcher Taylor Johnson is 5-3 on the season with a 1.41 ERA over 38.1 innings pitched with teammate Nicole Fullilove leading the team in strikeouts with 23 K's over 37.1 innings pitched. Opponents are batting .253 against the DSU pitching staff, who have tallied 72 strikeouts overall.

The Warhawks will host non-conference foe Blue Mountain College on Monday in a doubleheader set to begin at 2 p.m. at the AUM Softball Complex. The Warhawks are 5-1 lifetime against the Toppers, with the last contest between the two coming in 2016. AUM swept then conference foe BMC in a doubleheader on the campus of the Toppers.
