PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Auburn Montgomery softball team dropped a pair of games to #17 West Florida on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-1 in game one before dropping game two 4-3 in Gulf South Conference play at the UWF Softball Complex.
NOTES
• AUM falls to 22-14 on the year with a 13-13 mark in the GSC.
• UWF improves to 24-13 overall and 15-9 in the league.
• The Warhawks were mercy ruled for the first time this season in game one, allowing three runs in the fifth to give the Argonauts the walk-off victory.
• AUM will look to salvage the series tomorrow at noon.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior
Kalee Sparks went 3-for-6 on the day with two runs batted in and two runs scored. Sparks also hit her first home run of the season in game one.
• Sophomore
Jaycie Walker also went 3-for-6 with a run scored and a stolen base.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
• AUM got on the board in the top of the first inning when Sparks hit a solo shot to left field to give the Warhawks a 1-0 advantage.
• UWF would respond in the bottom of the first on a Kathleen Smiley two-run homer to left to give the Argonauts a 2-1 lead.
• Tiona Hill hit a two-run double to left-center before pitcher Grace Gilbert hit a double of her own to plate Hill which put the Argos up 5-1.
• The Argonauts scored one run in the fourth on a bases loaded walk and would load the bases once again in the fifth. UWF then scored on a fielder's choice, an infield single and another bases loaded walk that would give the Argos a 9-1 lead, ending the game via the NCAA Eight-Run Rule.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
• AUM scored one run on five hits with one errors.
• UWF scored nine runs on seven hits with no errors.
• Starter
Chanel Newcomer (11-6) was saddled with the loss, allowing five runs on five hits in three innings of work.
• Gilbert improved to 9-2 on the year, allowing one run on five hits with three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
• The Argos plated three runs in the bottom of the first, scoring on an AUM throwing error and a pair of RBI singles by Hill and Gilbert to take a 3-0 lead.
• AUM tied the game in the top of the third, scoring their first run on a Sparks single to right followed by a UWF error that allowed Walker and
Jasmine Thompson to score.
• With the score tied in the bottom of the sixth Hill hit a solo bomb to right to put UWF up 4-3.
• The Warhawks were able to get a runner on base in the top of the seventh after a Sparks single with one out, but could not get her home as UWF would pick up its 24
th win of the year.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME TWO
• AUM scored three runs on six hits with two errors.
• UWF plated four runs on six hits with one error.

Michaelyn Foster fell to 6-2 on the season allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts in six innings of work.
• Sarah Maloney picked up the win in relief pitching 4.1 shutout innings to improve to 7-2.

The Warhawks will close out the series with the Argonauts tomorrow at the UWF Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
