AUM To Host Christian Brothers In Final Home Stand

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery softball team will host Gulf South Conference foe Chrisitan Brothers this weekend in its final home stand of the 2018 season beginning on Friday with a single game followed by a doubleheader on Saturday. The Warhawks will honor seniors Amy Persinger, Rose Schmidt and Kalee Sparks before the game on Saturday as a part of senior day festivities at the AUM Softball Complex.

About the Warhawks
AUM is 24-15 on the season with a 14-13 record in the Gulf South Conference. The Warhawks are coming off of a doubleheader split with non-conference foe Albany State, falling in game one 4-1 before finishing off the Golden Rams in five innings in game two with a 10-0 victory.
 
The Warhawks are now 12-6 at home, 7-7 on the road and 5-2 at neutral sites. AUM is batting .269 as a team with opponents batting .213 on the season. The Warhawks have also stolen 111 bases this season with Hannah Dailey and Parker Pinholster tied for the team lead with 24 apiece. Pinholster also holds the career record for stolen bases now with 61 over her first two seasons, shattering the old record of 42 by former Warhawk Joanna Reynolds (2009-12).
 
Sophomore slugger Jaycie Walker leads the team in batting average with a mark of .380. Walker also leads the team in slugging percentage (.694), total bases (75), walks (21), home runs (5), doubles (15) and triples (2). Sparks is second on the team in batting average (.375) but leads the team in total hits with 45.
 
Pitcher Chanel Newcomer leads the team in strikeouts with 85 on the season and has amassed a record of 12-7 this season. Freshman Michaelyn Foster leads the team in earned run average at 1.85 and is 6-2 on the year. Junior Natalie Johnsey has tallied three victories in her last five outings to improve to 5-6 this season, allowing only four earned runs over 14.2 innings of work.
 
About the Buccaneers
CBU is currently 9-34 on the season with a 1-26 mark in the GSC. The Buccaneers have lost 18 league games in a row after being swept by #8 North Alabama last weekend. CBU's lone conference victory came against West Georgia on March 4, an 8-7 win for the Bucs.
 
Senior Amber Johnson leads the team in batting with an average of .366 with teammate Holly Oyhenart right on her heels at .349. Oyhenart leads the team in total hits with 51 while Sierra Anderson leads the team in runs batted in with 22.
 
Anderson leads CBU in innings pitched with 113.0 and has amassed a record of 3-17 this season. Jenna Cotter leads the team in strikeouts with 52 and is 4-13 on the year.
 
Up Next
The Warhawks will close out the 2018 season next weekend when they travel to Carrollton, Ga., to take on GSC foe West Georgia in a three-game series beginning on Saturday. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. followed by a single game on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. as well.
