CARROLLTON, Ga. – Playing in their final series of the season the Auburn Montgomery softball team split Saturday's doubleheader with league foe West Georgia, falling 4-1 in game one before their bats came alive to the tune of 13 hits in a game two 5-2 victory at University Field on the campus of the Wolves.
NOTES
• AUM is now to 28-16 on the season with a 18-14 mark in the GSC.
• UWG moves to 25-26 overall and 10-22 in league play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Senior
Amy Persinger went 4-for-5 at the plate today, with two runs batted in.
• Sophomore
Parker Pinholster was 3-for-4 with two RBI, two stolen bases, a double and a run scored.
• Freshman
Michaelyn Foster picked up the game two victory, allowing two runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
• The two teams were scoreless until the top of the fifth, when pinch hitter Persinger singled to left to drive in
Gracie Harris from second to give the Warhawks a 1-0 advantage.
• UWG would plate a runner with one out in the bottom of the seventh to avoid the loss, when Mallory Walker doubled to right to plate Peyton Stallworth and even the game at 1-1.
• With two out and two on Stallworth would lift the Wolves to the victory, belting a three-run home run to give UWG the walk-off victory 4-1.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME ONE
• AUM scored one run on four hits with no errors.
• UWG scored four runs on eight hits with no errors.

Chanel Newcomer (13-8) was credited with the loss allowing four runs on eight hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
• The Wolves' Katie Foote (10-7) picked up the win allowing one run on four hits with three walks and three strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
• Game two the Warhawks take an early lead in the top of the first when
Jaycie Walker doubled to left to score Pinholster and give AUM a 1-0 advantage.

Abby Krueger followed Walker's double with one of her own, trading places with the sophomore slugger to give the Orange and Black a 2-0 lead.
• Persinger got her second RBI of the day with a bunt single that plated
Hannah Dailey in the top of the second to push the Warhawks' advantage to 3-0.
• UWG's Alley Taylor hit the Wolves second home run of the day, cutting the Wolves' deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the third.
• Pinholster hit a bases loaded double to right in the sixth to score a pair of runners and give AUM a 5-2 lead.
• Foster only allowed one base-runner the rest of the way as the Warhawks evened the series at one game apiece heading into the rubber match tomorrow.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE – GAME TWO
• AUM scored five runs on 13 hits while committing two errors.
• UWG scored two runs on five hits with one error.
• Foster improved to 8-2 on the season with her effort.
• Raya Moncus was credited with the loss for West Georgia, allowing five runs on 12 hits with three strikeouts.
UP NEXT
The Warhawks and Wolves will close out the series tomorrow with a single game set for 12 p.m. at University Field. The game will be the final contest of 2018 for the Orange and Black.
