HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team will open the season at the 2018 UAH Classic hosted by Gulf South Conference foe Alabama Huntsville on Friday and Saturday, opening with Ouachita Baptist on Friday at 10 a.m.
 
Entering their second season the Warhawks bring a more experienced squad to the court this season, with nine players returning from AUM's inaugural season. Senior middle blocker Brianna Garvin returns after leading the Warhawks in kills last season, recording a program best 227 kills on the season.
 
Also returning is sophomore outside hitter Skylar Coppinger, who finished tied for second on the team in kills with 192 last season. Fellow sophomore Jaylyn Felder also returns after posting 174 kills from her middle blocker position.
 
Senior setter Carly Smart returns to direct the AUM offense after tallying 770 assists last season. The Columbus, Ga., native averaged 7.55 assists per game last season. Libero Haley Toler led the team in digs last season, posting a program best 332 in 2017.
 
AUM will play Ouchita Baptist on Friday at 10 a.m. before playing the host Chargers at 2 p.m. The Warhawks will close out the tournament against LeMoyne-Owen College on Saturday at 1 p.m. AUM earned their first victory in program history against LOC last season, earning a 3-0 victory over the Magicians on Sept. 1.
