Men’s Soccer Falters Late in Contest against Florida Tech

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team stayed within striking distance for much of its match against Florida Tech, but a pair of goals in the final six minutes put the contest away, as the Warhawks fell to the Panthers 3-0 Saturday at the AUM Soccer Complex.
 
NOTES
• The Warhawks fell to 1-1 on the season.
• The Panthers improved to 2-0 on the year.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
William York recorded the lone shot of the match for AUM.
Cedarian Brunelle stopped a pair of shots in goal for the Warhawks.
• Guillermo Segovia Ma collected a goal and an assist for Florida Tech.
• Craig McCall and Luca Campanini also tallied goals for the Panthers.
• Ma and Per Henrik Nag each tallied three shots for the Panthers. 
• Jason Fesquet collected the clean sheet in goal for Florida Tech. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
• McCall put the Panthers up for good at the 32:14 mark of the match, when he scored via passes from Junior Roserie and Morgan Gauthier.
• Trailing by just one, the Warhawks put together their best scoring threats of the night early in the second half. Phillip Spickenbaum attempted a corner kick just 3:08 into the second period, while York made his attempt at the 20:17 mark of the half.
• Ma upped the advantage to 2-0 for the Panthers with just 5:39 remaining in the contest, taking a pass from Solomon Wheatley.
• The Panthers capped the scoring on a late penalty kick by Campanini with just 4:02 left in the match.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
• Florida Tech held a 16-1 advantage in shots, including a 5-0 edge in shots on goal.
• The Warhawks tallied to lone two saves of the contest.
• The Panthers recorded six corner kicks, compared to just one for AUM.
• In a physical contest which featured 26 fouls, AUM committed 14 fouls, compared to 12 for Florida Tech.
 
UP NEXT
AUM will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 6, when it hosts Barry in the third game of a four-match home stand to open the 2018 campaign. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
