Men’s Soccer to Face West Florida and Spring Hill at Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's soccer team will welcome a pair of Gulf South Conference opponents to the AUM Soccer Complex this weekend, with a 7:00 p.m. matchup against West Florida on Friday, Sept. 28 and a 3:30 p.m. matchup against Spring Hill on Sunday, Sept. 30.

About the Warhawks
AUM (2-6, 1-1 GSC) heads into the weekend coming off of a 2-1 double overtime win at Shorter on Sunday, Sept. 23 in Gulf South Conference action. Freshman midfielder Phillip Spickenbaum netted the golden-goal in the 103rd minute of the match to clinch AUM's first GSC victory of the 2018 season.
 
Newcomers Billy Murphy, Tate Dean and Spickenbaum all lead the Warhawk's offense with four points apiece. Murphy and Dean both lead the team with two goals scored, while Spickenbaum paces the AUM attack with two assists distributed. 
 
Sophomore Austin Sun Chee Fore's one goal and assist on the season groups him with Spickenbaum as the only two members of the squad with a goal and an assist on the season.
 
In goal, freshman keeper Alexander Kraus's 47 saves on the season ranks tied for first among GSC goalies. Kraus notched 16 saves over the course of two GSC matches last weekend, including nine in the double-overtime win at Shorter on Sunday.
 
The Warhawks boast an all-time record of 5-4-1 against the Badgers, while they trail the Argos 2-0 in their short series history. 
 
About the Argos
West Florida cruised their way to a 7-0 victory over Pensacola Christian in their most recent match on Friday, Sept. 21 in Pensacola, Fla. The Argonauts defeated Christian Brothers 4-1 in their last GSC match on Sept. 16. 
 
The Argos have scored a GSC-best 21 goals through seven matches, for an average of three per contest. They also lead the GSC in shots taken (123) and shots on goal (64) in 2018.
 
Sean Hoffstatter's eight goals and 17 points both lead all GSC players. Chandler Castleman, Rafael Godoi and Barrett Mills all lead the Argos with three assists.  
 
Goalkeeper Jacob Murray has allowed only six goals in six contest, for a 1.07 goals against average that ranks second in the GSC. 
 
About the Badgers
Spring Hill (5-1-0, 1-0-0 GSC) topped Georgia Southwestern University 3-0 in their most recent match on Wednesday, Sept. 19 in Americus, Ga. The Badgers have won their only GSC contest so far in 2018, knocking off Union 3-2 at home on Sept. 16.
 
The Badger's pace of 2.5 goals per match currently ranks third in the conference, having netted 15 goals in six games. 
 
Alexander Lipinski's 14 points accumulated on the season currently ranks for second in the GSC, while his six goals rank for third in the conference. Tillman Schober's four assists rank him second in the GSC.
 
The Spring Hill defense has allowed nine goals on the season, for an average of 1.50 per contest. Keeper Alessandro Erdelyi's 1.33 goals against average through six matches ranks among the top five goalies in the GSC.
