Women’s Basketball Welcomes Fort Valley Wednesday, Treks to Montevallo Saturday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team will take part in a pair of games to finish off the week, hosting Fort Valley State on Wednesday, Jan. 16 and traveling to the University of Montevallo for a Gulf-South-Conference tilt on Saturday, Jan. 19.

About the Warhawks
AUM (1-14, 1-7 GSC) heads into this week's slate of games having knocked off Shorter University 49-48 on Saturday, Jan. 12 in GSC play for the program's first win under Head Coach Sean Page. Freshman guard Jordan Brewster notched a season-high 32 points, including the game-winning three in the final minute, while Aaliyah Milord pulled down a career-high 13 boards for AUM in the victory.
 
Brewster leads the charge offensively for AUM, with a 16 points-per-game scoring average that ranks for fifth in the GSC unofficially. The Lenoir City, Tenn. native unofficially paces the conference in three-pointers made (62) threes per game (4.13), overall minutes played (563) and minutes per game (37.5).
 
Evelina Avleeva's 8.1 rebounds per game paces the Warhawks on the glass, while Milord's 7.3 and Victoria Morales's 6.7 boards sit right off of Avleea's pace. Milord's 8.8 rebounds per game in conference contests ranks for best on the team.
 
The Warhawks continue to pace the Gulf South with a conference-high 61 blocks and 4.1 blocks per game. Morale's 1.1 blocks-per-game ranks for the team high.
 
AUM holds an all-time series advantage of 25-11 over Montevallo, while Wednesday's meeting with Fort Valley will serve as the first matchup between the two schools in women's basketball.  The Warhawks dropped a tightly-contested 49-46 contest at home to the Falcons in their last meeting on Jan. 3 earlier in the season.
 

About the Wildcats 
Fort Valley State (3-12, 3-5 SIAC) comes into their inaugural contest with AUM having won two of their last three games, including an 80-69 win against rival Albany State on Jan. 12 their last time out.
 
The Wildcats are currently averaging 55.2 points per game, while allowing opponents to score 70.4. Fort Valley brings with them a 30 percent shooting efficiency into Wednesday's matchup, and an opponent's shooting percentage of 36.5 percent.
 
Alicia Franklin leads the Wildcat attack with a 16.4 points-per-game clip that ranks for fourth in the Southern Intercollegiate Conference. Nola Carter leads the Wildcats with a six rebounds-per-game mark, while sitting second on the squad with a 9.7 points-per-game average.
 
 
About the Falcons
Montevallo (9-6, 5-2 GSC) amassed their highest offensive output of the season in a 96-59 home win over Christian Brothers their last time out on Jan. 12. The Falcons boast an unblemished 5-0 record in home games so far on the year.
 
The Falcons come in averaging 65.5 points per game, while giving up 63.5 a game. Montevallo's 32 percent three-point efficiency ranks them among the top four teams in the conference.
 
Nautika Philpot's 14.2 points per game leads the team, while Kourtnie Smith (9.4) and Aaliyah Rice (9.2) sit just below the double-dight mark in scoring average. Smith leads Montevallo with an 8.5 rebound-per-game clip, a mark that ranks for fourth in the GSC.
 
Prior to their matchup with the Warhawks, the Falcons will take on Lee University in GSC play from Cleveland Tenn. on Jan. 17.
