Men’s Basketball Back In Action Against The University Of Montevallo On Thursday

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team will play their first game of the new year on Thursday evening at the AUM Gymnasium when the Warhawks host Gulf South Conference foe the University of Montevallo beginning at 8 p.m.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks are 4-8 on the season and 0-4 in league play. AUM is currently on a six-game losing skid, having last won on Nov. 25 against Spring Hill College, 72-58. In their last game the Warhawks fell to GSC opponent Christian Brothers on Dec. 15, 107-87, allowing a conference record 24 3-pointers in a contest in the setback to the Bucs.
 
Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Orange & Black, with junior guard Carlos Bell leading the way with a 17.3 points per game average. Bell has tallied 207 points on the season to go along with 86 rebounds, which is second on the team.
 
Junior forward/center Aaron Reddick leads the team in boards with 100, averaging 8.3 rebounds per contests.
 
Junior guard Darrion Taylor is second on the team in scoring, averaging 13.2 ppg while leading the team in assists with 40. Junior Tre Hansbrough is third on the team in points with a 12.4 ppg average.
 
AUM is 29-25 overall against the Falcons, with UM having won the last three contests against the Warhawks. AUM's last victory over the Falcons came on Dec. 20, 1996, a 69-62 victory for the Warhawks. The two teams did not play from 1996-97 until the 2016-17 season.
 
About the Falcons
Montevallo is 6-8 on the season with a 2-2 mark in league play. The Falcons have won three games in a row, and are coming off of a 63-60 victory over Miles College in Dec. 31.
 
Two Falcons are averaging 10 or more points per contest this season, with Micah Fuller leading the way with 10.8 ppg. De'Marco Owens is second on the team in scoring with a 10.0 ppg average.
 
Owens is averaging a double-double on the season, posting 10.0 rpg over 14 games. Owens, alongside Jack Youmans, are the only two players to have started every game for UM. Cam Copeland leads the team in assists with 59 and steals with 27.
