Warhawks To Host Valdosta State For Homecoming

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team will host Gulf South Conference foe Valdosta State on Saturday afternoon in league play, as the Warhawks will take on the Blazers as a part of AUM's 2019 Homecoming celebration. The game is part of a doubleheader with the two women's programs which will begin at 2 p.m., with AUM's Homecoming Court being announced between games.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks are 6-11 on the season with a 2-7 mark in league play. AUM is coming off of a 63-47 setback at the University of Montevallo last Saturday, as the Falcons avenged an 82-80 setback to the Warhawks on Jan. 3.
 
Four players are averaging double figures in scoring for the Orange & Black, with junior guard Carlos Bell leading the way with 266 points over 17 contests. Fellow guard Darrion Taylor is second on the team in points with 207 and junior forward Aaron Reddick is third with 184.
 
Reddick leads the team and is second in the GSC in blocks with 27 while also leading the team and tying for second in the league in rebounds with 139. Taylor leads the team in assists with 53.
 
AUM is 3-4 lifetime against VSU, with the first meeting between the two schools occurring on Dec. 30, 1978. The Warhawks' last victory over the Blazers came during the 1981-82 season, a 79-71 victory for AUM. Since joining the Gulf South the Orange & Black are 0-2 against the Blazers. Last season VSU took both games, earning a 104-81 win at home on Jan. 19 before surviving for a 94-92 win at the AUM Gymnasium on Feb. 10.
 
About the Blazers
VSU is 14-5 overall and 7-4 mark in the GSC. The Blazers are coming off of a heartbreaking 67-65 setback to Montevallo as well this past Thursday evening, as the game was tied at 64-64 with :52 seconds remaining in the contest.
 
Graduate student Beau Justice leads the team and is second in the league in scoring, averaging 21.2 points per contest. Junior guard Clay Guillozet is second on the team in scoring with 12.9 ppg average while teammate Winston Morgan is right on his heels at 12.8 ppg. Guillozet also leads the team in rebounds with 114.
 
Former Warhawk Desmond DeRamus leads the team in assists with 85, averaging 4.5 per contest. The graduate transfer leads the GSC in assist/turnover ratio with a mark of 2.3.   
 
The Blazers will get quick chance for revenge in their next contest, as they host Montevallo on Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
