Reddick Goes For 24 But Warhawks Fall To UWA, 69-58

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Junior center Aaron Reddick scored a career-high 24 points but the Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team fell to Gulf South Conference foe the University of West Alabama on Monday evening, 69-58, at the AUM Gymnasium.
 
NOTES
• AUM falls to 5-9 on the season and 1-5 in league play.
• UWA improves to 9-4 overall and 4-2 in the GSC.
• The Warhawks are now 4-9 lifetime against the Tigers, having dropped eight in a row to the team from Livingston, Ala.
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Reddick was 8-of-11 from the floor and 8-of-9 from the free throw line. He also pulled down nine rebounds.
• Junior guard Kenneth Keith scored 11 for AUM, recording a team-high four assists and two steals.
• Junior guard Carlos Bell pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds while adding two steals as well.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• AUM jumped out to an early 10-2 advantage in the contest, capped off by an EJ Card 3-pointer with 15:44 to go in the first. The Warhawks pushed their lead to 10 moments later on a Darrion Taylor fastbreak layup to put AUM up 12-2.
• The two teams would trade buckets back and forth over the next couple of minutes, as the Orange & Black went up 18-8 on a Reddick jumper with 12:29 to play. However, UWA would mount a comeback, going on a 12-1 run to take their first lead of the contest with 9:08 to play at 20-19.
• The Warhawks regained the lead at 22-20 on a Deven Tucker layup with 7:33 to play, but the Tigers would outscore AUM 19-to-4 to close out the half with a 39-26 lead.
• The second half saw AUM try to climb back into the contest, pulling to within 44-34 with 12:42 to play on another Reddick bucket, but the next seven minutes saw UWA push their advantage to 63-44 with 4:19 to go.
• The Warhawks would outscore the Tigers 14-to-6 over the final four minutes but the deficit was too much to overcome, with UWA earning the 69-58 victory.
 
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
AUM won the rebounding battle, 38-37.
• UWA's bench outscored AUM's 30-12.
• The Warhawks committed 17 turnovers to just 11 for the Tigers.
 
UP NEXT
The Warhawks will host Union University on Thursday evening beginning at 8 p.m. at the AUM Gymnasium. The game is part of a doubleheader with the two women's teams, who will tip off at 6 p.m.
