MONTGOMERY, Ala. ---The Auburn Montgomery women's soccer team fought tooth-and-nail with number-15 ranked Lee University on Sunday, Oct 27, but a 78th-minute goal from the Lady Flames proved to be difference maker in their 1-0 Gulf South Conference victory over the Warhawks.
With the loss, AUM's record now sits at 1-12-1 overall, and 1-7-1 in GSC play.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Ruby Mendez took a team-high three shots in the contest, bringing her season total to 60; a mark that ranks second in the GSC.

Ariel Jones added a shot on goal, while
Mayson Jaindl and
Faith Hayes both added a shot taken.
- In goal,
Dejon Fletcher (1-8-1) collected eight saves for the Warhawks on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team was able to crack the scoreboard in the first half, with the Warhawks getting a pair of shots in the period.
- Jones accounted for the game's first attack with a shot into net in the 1st minute that was corralled by the Lee keeper.
- AUM would see another scoring opportunity go for not in the 20th minute, when a Mendez free kick from outside the box would sail just high.
- The Flames 78th minute game-winner came when Carly Smoltz would play a ball from inside the box to Emma Higgins, who would find the back of the net for the score.
- The Warhawks saw their best chance for an equalizer in minute number 83, on a Mendez free kick at the outside center of the box that clanked off the crossbar to keep Lee up 1-0.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Lee outshot AUM in the game, 22-6.
- The Warhawks took two shots in the first half and four in the second.
- AUM was tagged for 10 fouls, while Lee was on the receiving end of 11 foul calls.
