ALBANY, Ga. – The Auburn University at Montgomery volleyball team stormed past the Albany State Lady Golden Rams on the road on Tuesday night to capture their season-high fifth consecutive victory.
NOTES
- The Orange & Black now support at 14-10 record.
- Albany State sees their record drop to 14-12 in 2019.
- The Warhawks won the match 25-9, 26-24, 25-13.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS

Isadora Nicolai led the Warhawks in assists with 22, while
Shiann Bontrager and
Leah Anderson netted six helpers.

Giada Pais-Marden recorded a team-high 12 kills in the contest.

Carla Butler paced the Orange & Black in digs with 10.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening set started with a bang as the Warhawks were able to take 10 of the first 14 points to soar off to a 10-4 lead. The Orange & Black would run off seven straight points to run the frame to 21-7 thanks to the service efforts of Butler. AUM would limit the Lady Golden Rams to just two more points throughout the entire opening set while sharing the love offensively.
Sommer Rhea,
Jaylyn Felder, and
Nyah Whittlesey all netted four kills in the 25-9 set victory.
- Albany State would gain a stronghold early in the second set by jumping out to an 8-5 lead. With the ASU lead sitting at 9-6, the Warhawks would race out to capture four-consecutive points to tie the second frame at nine. The action would continue to feature back and forth action, as neither side was able to gain an advantage, resulting in a late 18-17 Warhawk lead. With
Dariona Dash serving with a 25-24 lead, the Warhawks would escape with a 26-24 win thanks to a service ace from the sophomore outside hitter.
- AUM wanted to ensure that there would not be a fourth set in the match by stealing the first seven points of the third set. Kills by Pais-Marden, Felder, and Rhea helped stretch the lead during the 7-0 run. Albany State would attempt to come back in the middle portion of the final set by running the score to 13-8, which forced an AUM timeout. The Lady Golden Rams would take two more points after the timeout, but the Warhawks would mount a furious offensive attack and would run away with the third set 25-15.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- AUM had a strong lead in the kills department, registering 32 to ASU's 17.
- The Warhawks swung at a .257 clip during the win, while holding Albany State to a .119 swing percentage.
- There were five service aces in the match, AUM had four while the Lady Golden Rams had one.

"Our hitting percentage tonight made a difference in the match, said head coach Flavia Siqueira. We were able to score often and keep lead as well as make some changes to our lineup."

The Warhawks will continue their Gulf South Conference playoff push with a home meeting with GSC foe Christian Brothers on Friday, Nov. 1. The match from the AUM Gymnasium is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
