Volleyball Travels To UAH, Hosts West Florida

The Auburn Montgomery volleyball team will take on two of the top teams in the Gulf South Conference this week, traveling to Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday evening before hosting West Florida on Thursday. The Warhawks will take on both the Chargers and the Argonauts at 6 p.m., with the contest against UWF at the AUM Gymnasium being a Pink-Out contest.

About the Warhawks
AUM is now 9-5 overall and 3-2 in league action. The Orange & Black are also 4-1 at home, 1-2 on the road and 4-2 at neutral sites. The Warhawks went 1-1 this past week, earning a 3-2 victory over Valdosta State this past Friday and falling to West Georgia, 3-0. The victory against VSU was the first in program history.
 
Senior outside hitter Sommer Rhea set the record of kills in a match with 26 against Valdosta State on Oct. 5, breaking the record of teammate Dariona Dash who set the mark of 23 against West Alabama on Sept. 27. Rhea leads the team in kills and is eighth in the GSC with 165. She has accounted for 178.5 points this season which also tops the Warhawks.
 
Sophomore setter Isadora Nicolai is now second in the league in assists after leading the league the past couple of weeks. Nicolai has tallied 530 assists this season, posting 9.81 per set. She also leads the team and is sixth in the GSC in service aces with 20.
 
AUM is 0-4 against both the Chargers and the Argonauts, having fall in three sets in all eight matches against the two squads.
 
About The Chargers
UAH is 11-5 on the season with a 4-1 mark in league play. They are also 9-1 at home this season. The Chargers lone conference loss came against West Florida in the GSC opener for both schools, a 3-2 victory for the Argos.
 
Isabelle Barnes leads the team in points and blocks having tallied 165 kills and 73.0 blocks for a total of 216.0 points. Abby Brooks leads the team in kills with 175 and is averaging 2.97 kills per set. Sabrina Duncan and Katie Sharp direct the offense from the setter position, with Duncan notching 398 assists and Sharp notching 204.
 
About the Argonauts
UWF is the only undefeated in conference play this season and are 12-5 overall. They are 2-1 on the road and 5-2 in neutral site matches. The Argos went 2-0 last week with victories over VSU and UWG. In fact, UWF has won seven matches in a row heading into their contest with the Warhawks and are currently receiving votes in the AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll.
 
Jordyn Poppen leads the team in kills with 223 and points with 253.5. She's also tied for the team lead in aces with 16. Setters Taylor Vaneekeren and Brogan Wallin lead the team in assists, with Vaneekeren leading the team with 372 and Wallin right on her heels with 312.
