About the Warhawks
With a win or a Mississippi College loss, the Warhawks will clinch the No. 6 seed in the upcoming Gulf South Conference tournament. This will be the Warhawks' first appearance in the postseason in program history.
The Warhawks will honor their 2019 senior class with their meeting against the Wolves on Tuesday as both
Sommer Rhea and
Ariadne Borges will be recognized for their accomplishments during their time at AUM.
Rhea has tallied 316 kills this season which leads the team, and she has also moved into first place in program history with 496 kills. The senior has also netted 362 digs this season, and now sits in second place all-time in the category with 534.
Borges, meanwhile, has also proven to be an elite offensive player, recording nine double-digit kill games this season including a season-high 15 kills against Lee on October 26 and Valdosta State on November 5.
About The Wolves
West Georgia still has something to play for heading into the final stretch of their season. The Wolves are sitting in third place in the GSC standings behind Alabama Huntsville and need two wins to have a chance at the number two seed.
The Wolves bested the Warhawks in their first meeting of the season back on October 5. West Georgia beat the Warhawks in Carrollton, Ga., in three sets in the team's only meeting in 2019.
About The Argos
West Florida has clinched the regular-season title and will host the upcoming conference tournament in Pensacola, Fla., this weekend. The Argonauts have not lost a conference match this season, sporting a perfect 14-0 record.
AUM came as close as any GSC team to beating West Florida earlier this season on October 10. The Warhawks had West Florida to set point in a five-set thriller before the Argos came back and took the match 3-2.
