FAIRFIELD, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team dropped their first road contest of the season in a 73-70 setback to the Golden Bears of Miles College on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from Fairfield.
NOTEWORTHY
- The loss drops AUM's 2019-20 record to 1-2, while bringing their all-time series advantage over Miles to 2-1.
- Eleven different Warhawks scored at least one point in the game.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- For the second-straight game,
Carlos Bell notched a team-high 21 points. The senior guard also recorded four steals, four rebounds and a blocked shot

Maharrith Jackson logged his first career double-double for the Orange and Black. The junior forward totaled 14 points, while hauling in a game-high 12 rebounds and blocking a pair of shots.

Darrion Taylor and
Joshua Moore both scored six points, with Taylor dishing out a team-high four assists and Moore pulling down three boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- AUM opened up the game on an 11-6 run over the first five minutes, with five of those points coming from
Michael Bryant.
- The Warhawks would go on to extend their lead to nine after a layup from Jackson put them up 19-10 at the 11:24 mark in the first.
- The Warhawks would see their largest lead of the game come at the 6:42 mark, after a free throw by
Jamichael Smart would put them on top 26-16.
- Miles would answer, however, with a 12-2 run over the next three minutes to tie the game at 28-all. Both teams would tally four more points to see the score read 32-32 at halftime.
- Both teams battled back-and-forth over the second half's first four minutes, with the score reading 40-40 with 15:58 left to play.
- With the score tied at 50-all at the 11:01 mark, the Golden Bears would rattle off a 17-7 run over the next eight minutes of game time to claim a 67-57 lead with 2:51 left.
- The Warhawks would fight their way back with a quick 9-2 run, however, to make it a 69-66 game with 30 seconds left.
- AUM would see two possessions down by just three in the final 30 seconds. A missed three, followed by a turnover on the Warhawks' next possession, however, would put Miles at the free throw line to put the game away.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- AUM shot 42 percent (27-64) on all field goals, while shooting just seven percent (1-14) on three's and 60 percent (15-25) from the free throw line.
- The Warhawks were out-rebounded by the Golden Bears in the contest, 44-40.
- The Orange and Black turned the ball over just nine times, while grabbing a season-high 11 steals and scoring 22 points off of Miles miscues.
- Both teams tallied 18 points off of their benches, while AUM outscored Miles on points in the paint, 38-24.
UP NEXT
- AUM will return to the hardwood on Friday, Nov. 15 when they begin play in the Daytona Kia/Mitsubishi Shootout in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Warhawks will take on Puerto Rico-Mayaguez at 4:00 p.m. at host institution Embry-Riddle.
