ABOUT THE WARHAWKS
AUM (4-3, 1-0 GSC) heads into the week winners of three of their last four games, including a 73-71 win over Lee for the program's first Gulf South Conference win as a full-fledged member of NCAA Division II on Saturday, Nov. 23. Junior guard
Jeremiah Bozeman scored the game's final basket for the Warhawks as time expired to clinch the victory.
The Warhawks currently rank fourth in the GSC with a 77.9 points-per-game average, led by four different players averaging in double figures.
Darrion Taylor's 14.3 points per game leads the Orange and Black, while
Carlos Bell (12.7),
Stanley Davis (12.6) and
Maharrith Jackson (10.9) all also posses a double-digit scoring average on the year.
AUM continues to pace the Gulf South in assists, with a league-high 92 through nine games. Taylor's 29 assists rank third in the conference, while his 4.1 assists per game ranks fifth.
The Warhawks rank third in the GSC with 56 three-pointers made, while ranking fifth with eight treys made per game. Davis's 19 threes made rank for third in the league, while his 48 percent three-point efficiency ranks second.
The Orange and Black's 276 total rebounds through seven games leads the GSC and ranks among the top 15 teams in the nation. Jackson, who leads the Warhawks with three double-doubles in 2019, ranks eight in the conference with a 7.7 rebounds-per-game clip, while
Aaron Reddick ranks 18th at 6.4 boards per contest.
The Warhawks also lead the Gulf South with 29 blocked shots and rank second with 48 steals. Bell leads AUM in both of those stat categories, ranking third in the league with 13 total steals and tied for fifth with eight blocks.
AUM holds an all-time series record of 19-20 against UAH and 1-1 versus Kentucky Wesleyan, while Friday's matchup with Tiffin will be the Warhawk's first meeting with them.
ABOUT THE CHARGERS
Alabama Huntsville (4-0, 1-0 GSC) has won all four of their games to open up their 2019-20 campaign. In their most recent work, the Chargers knocked off West Georgia 96-83 in overtime at home in their GSC opener on Saturday, Nov. 23.
Tristian Chambers (16.3 ppg) leads a Charger offense averaging 75.3 points per game and shooting a GSC-best 80 percent on free throws. JJ Kaplan (14.3 ppg) and Sam Orf (10 ppg) are both also averaging double-digit points for UAH.
On defense, the Chargers are allowing their opponents to score just 67.5 points per game. Kaplan's 12.8 rebounds per contest leads the league, while he also serves as the only player in the Gulf South to be averaging a double-double.
ABOUT THE DRAGONS
Tiffin University (4-2) comes into their contest with AUM winners of four in a row, including a 79-72 win at Kentucky State their last time out on Friday, Nov. 22.
Jairus Stevens (17.7 ppg) and Joshua Williams (16.2 ppg) lead a potent Dragon offense averaging 91.5 points per game, with Stevens also averaging a team-high 7.7 rebounds per game.
The Dragon's defense is allowing opponents to score 77.8 points per game, and shoot 43.5 percent from the floor. Tiffin is currently averaging 42.2 rebounds per contest on the year
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
Kentucky Wesleyan (1-3) has lost three of four games to begin 2019-20. The Panthers bested Oakland City 100-68 for their first win of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 20 in their most recent work.
The Panthers are currently averaging 66.8 points per game and shooting 46 percent, while allowing their opponents to score 74 points a game and knock down 47 percent of their shots. Adam Goetz leads the charge on offense, scoring 15.5 points per game for Kentucky Wesleyan.
Prior to their matchup with AUM, the Panthers will host Wheeling University on Friday, Nov. 29.
