MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery men's basketball team opened up their 2019-20 campaign with a hard-fought 76-71 setback to the Tars of Rollins College on Friday, Nov. 8, in a game that featured 11 lead changes and seven tied scores.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Three Warhawks scored in double figures for AUM in the game, led by
Stanley Davis's 21 points. Davis went 8-11 for AUM off of the bench, including 5-7 on three-pointers.

Darrion Taylor also tallied a team-high eight field goals, while finishing with 19 points and a team-best four assists.

Carlos Bell accounted for 10 points, to go along with four rebounds.

Aaron Reddick pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, with four points scored and a shot blocked.

Joshua Moore registered nine points, while hauling in six rebounds.
- Newcomers
Jeremiah Bozeman and
Maharrith Jackson both made their debut for the Orange and Black in the game. Jackson went for three points and one rebound, while Bozeman recorded two points and a board.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams battled back-and-forth over the game's first five minutes, as the score would read 10-8 in Rollins' favor at the 15:02 mark in the first.
- After seeing the Tars go up 15-11 with 11:41 left to play in the half, the Warhawks would rattle off an 11-0 scoring run over the next two and a half minutes, highlighted by a pair of threes from Davis.
- With the score at 23-20 in the Warhawk's favor, AUM would go on to score nine unanswered to take their largest lead of the night at 32-20 with 3:56 left in the first.
- The Tars would go a quick 6-0 run, however, to trim AUM's lead to 32-26 at halftime.
- AUM would stay comfortably ahead of the Tars for the first few minutes of the half, seeing their lead increase to nine five times over the first five minutes of the half.
- After going up by 11 on a D. Taylor jumper in the paint with 13:42 to go, the Tars would battle their way back into the game, with a 13-0 run over the next four and a half minutes to reclaim the lead at 55-53.
- Play would even out over the next six minutes of game time, however, with five tied scores. Bell would knot the game up at 66-all with 3:06 to go with successful bucket in the paint.
- The Warhawks would take the lead two more times before it was all said and done, including a 71-70 advantage courtesy of a Moore jumper with 46 seconds left to play.
- The Tars would go knock down a pair of free throws on the ensuing possession, however, to grab the lead for good.
- A stop on defense by the tars on AUM's next possession, combined with four more successful free throws, would give way to the final score of 76-71.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- AUM knocked down 28 of 62 shots (45 percent) from the floor on the night, going 11-29 (37 percent) in the first half, and 17-33 (51 percent) in the second.
- The Warhawks finished the game 10-23 from the three-point line (43.5 percent), including a 7-12 (58 percent) rate in the first half.
- AUM won the rebounding battle, 36-31.
- The Orange and Black shot 62 percent from the free-throw line in the contest.
