MONTGOMERY, Ala. --- The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team got a career-high 14-point performance from
Jessika Milton, and a key blocked shot from
Victoria Morales on the last possession of the game, to come away with a 44-42 home Gulf-South-Conference victory over West Georgia on Thursday, Feb. 14.
NOTES
- With the win, AUM improves to 4-20 overall, and 3-13 in GSC action.
- The Warhawks moved to 2-4 all-time against West Georgia with the win.
- The Warhawks led for just over 28 minutes of game time, equivalent to 70 percent of the game.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Milton's team-high 14 points came on a 5-6 shooting night from the floor, including a 2-2 clip from beyond the arc.

Evelina Avleeva also tallied double digits for AUM, finishing with 12 points. The senior forward also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and dished out a team-high three assists.

Aaliyah Milord also grabbed a team-high nine boards, while also scoring five points and recoding three assists, a block and a steal.
- Morales added eight points, eight rebounds and a game-high three blocks, while
Makaylla Bullard totaled five points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams struggled out of the gate offensively, with the score reading 4-2 after a layup by Milord at the 5:28 mark in the first.
- The Warhawks and Wolves would go back and forth for the remainder of the period, as a last-second jumper by Milord would tie the game at 11-all at quarter's end.
- The Warhawks would hold the Wolves to just five points in the second quarter, while scoring the first 13 points of the period to lead 24-11 at the 2:24 mark in the second. West Georgia would get a three-pointer on their final possession of the quarter to cut AUM's lead to 24-16 at halftime.
- West Georgia would battle back in the third quarter, however, opening the period on a 7-2 run to cut AUM's lead to 26-23 with 6:37 left in the third.
- An Avleeva three-pointer at the 5:47 mark would put AUM up 29-23, but West Georgia would retaliate with an 8-2 run to tie the game at the 1:35 mark in the third. Morales would put AUM back on top 33-31, with a successful jumper on the Warhawk's final possession of the third.
- AUM would lead by as many as five points in the fourth, with the latest coming on a layup by Milton to put the Orange and Black up 39-34 with 5:46 to go.
- West Georgia would rattle off an 8-2 run over the next two and half minutes of game time though, to retake the lead at 42-41 with 3:15 left to play.
- The Warhawks would tie the game up at 42-42 with 2:12 to go on a free throw by Milord, and would take the lead for good at 44-42 on a jumper by Morales at the 1:25 mark.
- AUM would batten down the hatches defensively and stop West Georgia on their final two possessions to hang on for the victory, highlighted by a last-second blocked shot by Morales on a West Georgia layup attempt on the game's final possession.
