The Warhawks are 8-19 overall and 4-15 in the GSC. AUM is coming off of a 79-63 victory over conference opponent Shorter at home on Saturday, with senior
Kenneth Keith leading the team in scoring with 16 points in his final contest at the AUM Gymnasium.
Junior guard
Carlos Bell has lead the Warhawks in scoring for the most of the season, averaging 14.3 points per game and tallying a total of 373 points this season. Fellow backcourt teammate
Darrion Taylor is second on the team in scoring with 12.9 ppg having scored 349 points this season. Taylor now stands at 926 points for his career.
Junior forward/center
Aaron Reddick leads the team in blocks while also leading the GSC with 51 on the season. Reddick leads the team in rebounds as well and is third in the league in rebounds with 217. He is also averaging 11.0 ppg for the Orange & Black.
This will be the second meeting of the season between the two schools, with VSU earning a 113-91 victory over the Warhawks at the AUM Gymnasium on Jan. 26. AUM is 3-5 lifetime against the Blazers with VSU holding a 3-0 record against the Warhawks since AUM joined the GSC.
About the Blazers
The Blazers can clinch the outright league title with a win and a West Alabama loss at Mississippi College. If both teams win, they will share the title and if both lose they also will share. The only way VSU wouldn't clinch at least a share of the title is if VSU loses and West Alabama wins.
The Blazers have won eight-straight games and can match their season-long winning streak with a win Thursday as the team began the season 9-0. VSU won a hard-fought game at West Alabama on Saturday, pulling away from the Tigers in the second half and used clutch free throw shooting down the stretch for the victory. VSU outscored UWA 33-24 in the second half after leading 34-30 at intermission. Prior to that game, VSU won 85-69 at West Florida on Thursday as it also pulled away from the upset-minded Argos in the second half.
