Women’s Basketball Topped by Argos

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Auburn Montgomery women's basketball team dropped a 63-45 Gulf-South-Conference contest to the Argos of the University of West Florida on Monday, Feb. 4 from the AUM Gymnasium.
 
NOTES
- With the loss, AUM's record falls to 2-19 on the season, and 1-12 in GSC play.
- The Warhawks all-time series advantage over West Florida narrows to 14-9 with the setback.
- Junior forward Regan Croff made her season debut for AUM in the contest, accounting for 13 minutes of playing time off the AUM bench. 
 
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
- Jessika Milton led AUM on offense, with a career-high 12 points on a career-best five field goals made. Milton also grabbed two rebounds, and accounted for a blocked shot and a steal.
- Victoria Morales pulled down double-digit rebounds for the fifth time this season, finishing with 12. Morales also swatted a career-high four blocks, scored seven points and recorded two steals. 
- Croff scored four points, grabbed four rebounds and registered a block and a steal in her 2018-19 debut for the Warhawks. 
- Makaylla Bullard added 11 points, while Alex Brown notched a season-high seven points on a season-high 31 minutes of action.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
- West Florida opened up the game on a 10-0 scoring run over the first two and a half mintues of play.
- Trailing 14-5 at the 3:10 mark in the first, the Warhawks would rattle off a 7-3 run, however, highlighted by Croff's first basket of the season on a layup in transition, to finish off the quarter and trail just 17-12 at the end of the period.
- West Florida put together their most successful quarter of the game in the second, outscoring AUM 24-5 in the period. 
- Brown brought AUM to within two points at 17-15 on a three ball to open up the period, but the Argos would score 19 unanswered points to go up 36-15 at the 2:28 mark in the second, and would turn that into a 41-17 lead at the break. 
- AUM matched West Florida's point total in the third, scoring 11 and giving up 11. Morales (5) and Milton (4) accounted for nine of the Warhawk's 11 points in the period. 
- The Warhawks opened up the fourth on an 11-2 scoring run, with a three by Bullard and a pair of treys from Milton to cut their deficit to 54-39 at the 5:42 mark.
- AUM would outscore UWF 17-11 in the period, but it would ultimately not be enough, with the final score reading 63-45.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE

- The Warhawks finished at 32 percent (18-56) from the floor on field goals for the night. AUM shot 25 percent (6-24) in the first half, and 37 percent (12-32) in the second. 
- AUM scored 24 points in the paint, and 16 points off of West Florida turnovers.
- The Warhawks got 11 points of contribution from their bench.
- AUM blocked six shots, marking for the fifth time this season that the Warhawks have tallied six or more blocked shots in a game.

- The Warhawks will travel to Clinton, Miss. for a Gulf South Conference matchup with Mississippi College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
