HOW IT HAPPENED
• For the seventh contest in a row the Warhawks scored first in the contest. Walker blasted a solo shot to center to give the home squad a 1-0 lead. It also marked the sixth game in a row that the Warhawks have scored in the first inning.
• First baseman Kendall Tucker knocked her first dinger of the season in the bottom of the second, giving AUM a 2-0 advantage.
• Walker led off the the third with a double to left-center and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Shortstop Olivia Aycock then knocked a single up the middle to plate Walker and put AUM up 3-0. After Parker Pinholster was hit by a pitch Duschell laid down a sacrifice bunt that advanced Aycock to third and Pinholster to second. Second baseman Gracie Harris laid down a sac bunt as well, scoring Aycock and advancing to second as GSW tried to throw out the speedy Aycock at home. Catcher Abby Krueger then laid down a sacrifice bunt as well but a throwing error by the Hurricanes' pitcher allowed two runs to score and Krueger to reach third. After three the Warhawks led 6-0.
• The Hurricanes got on the board in the top of the seventh to avoid the shutout, when Mackenzy McFarland reached on an error and advanced to second on the play. Aimee Oglesby hit a fly ball to shallow center that landed between three Warhawks who were giving chase which allowed McFarland to score from second.
