HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northwood piled on seven runs over the first four innings, highlighted by a five-run second inning, with all five of their runs in the frame being scored with two away.Â
- The Warhawks would get a pair of runners on base in the fourth, courtesy of a Zielonko walk and Feaster single to left, but would leave them stranded for the inning.Â
- After adding a run in the fifth, the Timberwolves would scor four more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Northwood sent nine batters to the plate in the inning, while collecting four base hits.
- The Warhawks would scratch the board in their next at bat in the sixth, however, putting up a five-spot to take a bite into the Timberwolve's lead. AUM put two of the first three hitters of the inning on base, after an Arrington walk to start the frame, and Feaster reaching base via fielder's choice. Smelley would plate the first run of the inning on a single through the left side, while Cumbie would knock the biggest hit of the inning on a triple down the right-field line to plate a pair. Cumbie would come around to score on a fielding error one batter later, while C. Henderson would drive in a run on a single to right for the inning's final run.Â
- AUM would get three more runs in eighth inning, to trim Northwood's lead to just 12-8. The Warhawks put the first four hitters of the frame on base, with C. Henderson's single to left field plating the first run of the inning. An Arrington sac fly to right, and a delayed double steal would provide for the other two runs in the inning.
- The Timberwolves would add an insurance run in the top of the ninth, to give way to the 13-8 final.
