Women’s Tennis Looks To Extinguish Blazers, Flames At Home

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – After winning three of their last four matches, the Auburn Montgomery women's tennis team will look to continue their winning ways with two home matches against Gulf South Conference rivals.

About the Warhawks
The Warhawks (6-10, 4-2 GSC) have netted back-to-back shutouts over GSC opponents Shorter and Christian Brothers. Women's tennis as a team has won four of their last five conference matches after dropping their first contest to West Florida on February 22.  
 
Sofia Mustre has won her past two matches and is one of several Warhawks to take a two-match win streak into her match with the Lady Blazers. In 2019, Mustre has recorded five wins, all coming in the six slot for AUM.
 
Julia Enderink and Sofia Navarro will both take their team-high four-match win streak into Thursday's match. Enderink has a 7-9 record this season and has earned wins in two different positions. Navarro boasts an 8-6 record, seeing most of her time in the seven slot earning seven wins in that position.
 
Alba De la Torre has been AUM's best doubles player this season. Playing with both Mustre and Svenja Petri throughout the year, De la Torre has a team-leading nine wins in doubles play and has won her last two matches playing with Mustre.
 
About the Lady Blazers
Valdosta State (3-11, 3-3 GSC) will come to the AUM Tennis Complex having lost their last three matches, earning just three points in those three contests. Away from Valdosta, the Lady Blazers are 3-3 and 0-1 in neutral sites.
 
Sabrina Schmidt has played all 14 of her matches in the first slot for the Lady Blazers, netted an 8-6 record against opponents best. In doubles play, she and Estee Widdershoven are an impressive 13-6, including a 10-3 mark in conference play.
 
Widdershoven has also seen success in singles play this season for VSU. The Belgium native leads her squad in wins with 10. In her last eight matches, however, Widdershoven has posted a 5-3 record and is coming off her sixth loss of the season.

About the Lady Flames
Lee (14-4, 5-3 GSC) will enter their match with the Warhawks as one of the hottest teams in the conference. Having won six of their last seven, the Lady Flames have propelled themselves to fifth place in the conference.  
 
The Lady Flames have five different players who have recorded 10 or more wins in 2019 including Lisa Kirr who has a 16-2 record. Kirr has seen time in five different slots, while recording wins in all but the sixth position this season.
 
Doubles play has also been kind to Lee this season, netted a 38-7 record as a team. The pairing of Asia Grzegrzolka and Micaela Belen Maiz has earned a team-high 11 wins in the first position.
