HOW IT HAPPENED
- Shorter got on the board first in the game, with a run on two hits in the third to take a 1-0 lead after three innings.
- The Warhawks would notch the game up at one-all in the top of the fifth, when Smelley brought home Arrington with an RBI single for his first run batted in of the day. Arrington reached base via fielding error, and stole second one batter earlier to set up the run-scoring opportunity.
- Shorter would go on to score five runs in the bottom half of the fifth, knocking three home runs to grab their largest lead of the game at 6-1.
- AUM would answer back in the top of the sixth however, with a five-spot of their own to bring the game to a 6-6 tie. Smelley accounted for the big blow in the inning, with a three-run double to left to tie the game up, while Arrington and Hill would draw RBI walks in the frame.
- The Warhawks notched all six runs in the 10th inning with two away. Smelley would drive in the eventual game-winning run with a bases-loaded walk, followed by a pair of two-RBI knocks from Zielonko and Brandt to put AUM up 11-6. Cobb would deliver the final blow of the inning with an RBI double, to give way to the 12-6 final.
