About the Warhawks
AUM (0-3) come into the contest against the Panthers on the heels of a defeat to Albany State last time out. The Warhawks have not been shutout in five consecutive matches dating back to last season and will look to keep their offensive consistency going on Thursday.
Ruby Mendez continues to pace the Warhawks in scoring, having netted three goals in as many contests for the Orange & Black in 2019. After recording her 100
th career point against ASU, she is now just three goals away from moving into a tie for third place all-time in goals scored.
Freshman goaltender
Chloe Kistler continues to pace the entire Gulf South Conference in saves. The Northport, Ala., native has recorded 30 saves in three games played and has garnered starts in all three matches for AUM.
Milian Mollison recorded the first point of her career last week against Albany State with an assist on Mendez' 100
th career point. Mollison has now earned starts in two of AUM's three games to start the 2019 campaign.
Freshman
Helena Torres has played in 244 minutes for the Orange & Black this season, trailing only defensive teammate
Brianna Yurkovich (266) for most minutes played by a freshman this year.
The Warhawks will be playing an opponent from the Sunshine State Conference for the first time since the school opened up their 2017 campaign at Eckerd College, a 4-2 win for AUM.
AUM's matchup with the Panthers will be the first meeting between the two soccer programs since the Warhawks' transition to NCAA DII status.
About the Panthers
Florida Tech (1-2-1) is coming off their first win of the season last time out after they defeated GSC opponent Union on Sunday 3-0. The Panthers have also faced GSC rival Delta State, which resulted in a 0-0 tie.
The Panthers have four players who have netted at least one point to begin the season, including three different players who have registered a goal for the team.
Redshirt Junior Alyssa Bartle has recorded a goal on five shots to begin the season, while senior midfielder Maria Munoz has netted a goal and leads the Panthers in shots with 13.
Florida Tech has used two different goalies in their four contests to start the 2019 campaign. Maria Sanchez-Recuero has earned two starts for the Panthers and has tallied 12 saves, while Miranda Choplin has made one start, netting two saves.
The team's matchup with the Warhawks will be the first in a quick two-game road trip through Alabama. After the game against AUM, the Panthers will head to Montevallo to take on the Falcons on Saturday.
